Since I've added about 2lbs of Purina Ultium to my horses diet per day I can see they have more zing at the barrel races.

I don't believe you can add "fire" to a horse through feed. A well fed, in shape horse that lacks pep is more likely bored. They need to be motivated to move their feet quicker and move with a purpose. To much energy in their diet usually comes out in a negative way.

I have to agree with this as well

We use the CJ and have for years. My whole herd (ages 11 to 39) gets it, and we love it.

To think you can't give one a little more fire with feed is crazy, you absolutely can.

There a number of ways to do it. One of the most well known ways is adding a blood builder.

You can also do simple things like feeding a hotter grain

Omolene can really fire one up, I used this feed about 25 years ago and had to stop useing it, lol.
Blue Bonnet has feeds that can help add some pep to a horses step, but not in a bad way all in a good way.. they have a Intensify Omega Force 12/12 that is really good alot of people use it for their running horses. Blue Bonnet is the best feed company out there and they have some really good supplements to add to feed if your horse is missing/lacking something.

Just an example to support your answer. I’ve known Red Cell to be used for this purpose.

In my experience, Cur-ost Revive will put pep in their step. I felt like it made mine too energetic but that particular horse was medium energy level anyways. I think it’d produce very good results on more of a deadheaded horse.
