| My new guy has white hind socks, and I bought Vetrolin White N' Bright shampoo from TSC, and it did ok, wasn't thrilled with it, since I washed his socks 4 times, and didn't wow me. I'm looking for a shampoo, or spray that will really clean and brighten his socks, not just shine the dirt. |

| When I worked at the vet clinic all we used was dawn dish soap on white. Might take a few washes but worked better than all the other whitening products. |

Location: Aubrey, Texas | You can add a little bit of Mrs. Stewartβs blueing to your shampoo. Itβs in the laundry section, in a blue bottle, and has a picture of a grandmother on the front. Itβs used to make white shirts look really white- |

| Another thing to try is Cherry Kool Aid. Never tried it but heard it works great. You just rub the powder in real good and then just a little bit of water sprayed on it. Works especially well on pure white horses or Palomino's. |

| I always buy the hanes white socks. I wash with bleach and do the extra rinse and spin cycle. My socks always come out stark white and look snazzy on my sorrel! |

^^^^ we always used this on our show ponies (even the gray ones) ....just don't use too much or they have a blue tinge (don't ask me how I know that ..... LOL) |

Location: LaBelle, Florida | After bathing with your choice of shampoo/conditioners. Rinse well, then take a solution of 1 part vinegar to 3 part waters and sponge on. Let sit for a few minutes and then rinse. This solution is excellent at removing stains and neutralizing and soap residue left on. |

Wait a secβyouβre saying stockings should be white?? Β
In my part of SE AR we believe reddish brown to dark brown are the normal colors of socks/stockings. . . .
I've wondered about the "purple shampoo" I use on my blonde highlights, how it would work. Same principle as the bluing products??

I would think it would- the main purpose of the purple shampoo is to take the yellow out of grey hair. Remember purple haired little old ladies? Might have been a fad, as well, but try it- I used blueing to get manes and tails clean and white. I was too lazy to bend over/squat down to do legs. Now I have a bay with only a little bit of white on her feet!
Now that I think about it, I think the purple hair was the result of a weekly rinse- Fanci-Ful. You can still get it at Walmart-

You can still get it at Walmart- I use a certain shampoo for my sliver/gray hair at least once or twice a month to make sure I dont start getting any yellowing going on, one I like is Shimmer lights and another I use is Jhirmak silver brightening, you can get these at Walmart.. I never thought to use them on horses, I really dont give my horses a shampoo bath anyways I just rinse them off really good and wash their tails about 2 times a year with the Orvus livestock soap and then condition.
