 The Great Dane
  
Location: The Lone Star State (Southeast, near the Gulf) | Our son is learning to ride and needs a saddle that fits him. He’s riding a full size horse, 15.1 - 15.2 hands. We don’t want to spend a lot on an initial saddle until we know he wants to continue, so can anyone point me in the right direction? Please! I’ve looked online & a lot of saddles seem to be made for ponies.

Location: Montgomery TX | 15 or so years ago - we bought my sons a small black synthetic saddle for $125 - it's still going strong - I recently re-married and it is now being used for my (step) daughters, ages 4 and 10, to learn to ride. It is very light weight and easy for the 10 year old to handle. Personally I think it's been a great investment til they are ready for something bigger, especially since they grow out of them so fast. |

Location: The Lone Star State (Southeast, near the Gulf) | bten - 2018-07-06 3:51 PM 15 or so years ago - we bought my sons a small black synthetic saddle for $125 - it's still going strong - I recently re-married and it is now being used for my (step) daughters, ages 4 and 10, to learn to ride. It is very light weight and easy for the 10 year old to handle. Personally I think it's been a great investment til they are ready for something bigger, especially since they grow out of them so fast.
Do you know the brand? I’ve been looking at synthetic saddles & like the price points in the event he doesn’t want to ride too much after awhile. |

It does not have a brand on it anywhere. It just has silver conchos with a horse head on it. I got it from the local tack lady. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Billy Cook(sulphur Oklahoma) makes a youth saddle that has full quarter horse bars. Resale value remains the same. He makes the barrel saddle and a slick seat high back roper. If a young rider has a good saddle to remain secure they tend to ride more often and gain a lot of confidence. |
