Any tips for keeping my hand on my horses neck when I ask him to turn in a run? I have a bad habit of taking my hand out instead of keeping it in.

I have the same issue and I am always mindful of my hand
position and keep it touching the neck when practicing drills or any kind of turn really.

Visualization before you ride/run/practice. Works great!

One of the things that seemed to help the most at the Ed Wright clinics was when he started putting a rubber band in the horses mane about midway up the neck, kind of like a messy bun so it stood up and you had a visual of where he wanted your hand to be.

I'm a little different and pull to my pocket, but what has worked best for me in the past is to just think about pulling to my pocket the whole way. I've found that kicking & sitting where I need to are automatic, I don't need to think about them. So I can just run up to the barrel thinking "pocket, hand, pocket, hand" the whole way and it works. Usually after a few runs I can stop focusing on that & worry about other things

My daughter used to grab his mane, he just occasionally needed to use her little pinky to remind him to finish, her hand never moved.

I remember that trick! I'll have to try that tonight.
