Location: NC | With this hurricane bearing down on nc/sc is everyone getting ready? Supposed to hit land about a cat 4 on either nc coast or nc/sc coast and hopefully weaken asap. Then it may stall and dump 12-15 in of rain. |

| I know.....Im super worried about my horses, cows, goats, chickens, etc and can't fit them all in the barn at once. We are improvising plans on how to keep everyone safe and out of the weather as much as possible. I'll be honest and say I dont have a fancy fully enclosed barn with all the bells and whistles so all we can do is pray and hope it all works out for the best.... |

I'm on the Gulf Coast. We (and everyone I know) tie our phone numbers into their manes and leave them turned out, even though we do have a fully enclosed barn with enough stalls. They are much safer in an open pasture than a barn that's not rated for a Cat 4 hurricane. |

Im worried about mine as well. We have a barn but im letting them choose where they want to be. Im just going to put another line up in front of the giant pecan tree in the pasture in case something falls off that and takes a line out and they can get to road. Also picked up cattle tags and livestock markers for them. Fingers crossed its not as bad as they are calling for. |

Yep we just remove limbs and trees near fencing and tie down anything that could fly but I did see a really neat nylon dog collar style thing that wrapped around the pastern with phone number stitched in it. Good luck to those in its path! |

Same. Mine wear broodmare collars with our phone numbers painted on. Clean up any loose debris, trim trees, and turn 'em out. They stand away from any trees with their butt to the wind and wait it out. Instinct is still pretty powerful. |

Location: Dearing, GA | I know of the Hippodrome here in Augusta, and someone with 13 acres in Thomson, GA, which is less than an hour further west, who is welcoming livestock and RVs/LQs for people who need to stay. Also, I have friends in Memphis, TN who are willing to help for anyone traveling further west.

Location: Armuchee, GA, NW section of Ga | We have friends who live in Norfolk and on the outer banks of NC. Both have already left and moved further in to avoid any complications. Since they are my age 64, it is prudent to stay safe. They are not horse owners like I am, but safety of anyone in the pathway should be of ultmost importance. I live in NW section of Ga, closer to Chattanooga so other than rain we should be fine. And I have two 22kw house generators (due to hubby being in dialysis three years ago) then we will not be without power. I have another larger one on the back of one of our trucks that would be of service if any of our loved ones or community has a need of it. My horses have a good barn that can be closed if they need, and my whole house/farm sits on top of a hill so flooding is unlikely. People need to be proactive if possible. Things can be replaced, lives however cannot. Evacuate if you can, if not, make things as safe as possible. Some people have too many animals to move them. Keep them in your prayers. |

Location: "Si Fi" Ville | I know itβs a very long drive from the Carolinas, since my husband just rolled in last night from there, but our place is available for anyone wishing to come for however long the need, and of course any and all animals. I have several neighbors as well willing to open up their homes, pastures, and barns. We are also easily located 5 minutes off Interstate 20. And yes we will leave the light on for you.
Prayers from our families to yours! |

Location: Mountains of VA | My family lives in Wilmington..........we are worried. In 1999 Hurricane Floyd just about wiped out my mother's house..........I do not think the house will be there after this weekend and she lives on a tidal creek not anywhere near the beach. Of course, all the family members have left their homes and gone to higher ground. Between the rain and storm surge, it is not going to be good. It is hard to believe that some people have chose to stay on the beach.......STUPID people. |
