| Does anybody have and run a horse with anhidrosis?
I think my horse is about to be diagnosed - I called the vet this morning but I’m pretty sure I know the answer....
What have you done for your horse??? |

| One AC combined with a dark beer started mine sweating again, he’s up during the heat of the day under fans. Vitamin E helped a friend’s horse. |

| I just bought One AC and started him on it tonight. Do you just pour the dark beer into their meal? Or give it alone?
Do you still run your horse? |

| 1 A/C is good, platinum refresh seemed to work also. I think the biggest thing is keeping them cool under fans during the heat of the day and not stressing out their system. If it’s hot don’t enter. I’ve heard acupuncture is great for them but have not been able to try it.

| I had a 2 yr old filly in training diagnosed by track vet with anihidrosis but only after she "tied up"
I brought her home and treated her like a tied up horse, started her on One A/C per my vet and she was sweating in a day. She actually was sweating in trailer when I brought her home. Completely confused.
When I finally got the lab results from the track vet, it did not support the tying up. I asked Dr Google about some of the high numbers on things I didn't recognize, mostly off the chart protein levels, particularly Albumin. Her CK and AST levels normal. Per Google she was either severely dehydrated or had liver disease. Long and short I took her to my vet for a retest 4 weeks after original test and everything was normal. She's fine. She'll finish the one a/c and can go back to work this fall when it cools off however I probably will just leave her until Spring.

Location: Southeastern Idaho | One AC has kept my mare symptom free this summer. I only need it during the heat of the summer. But won't be without it again. She sweats normally now and hasn't had colic episode (she would over heat in her pen then show colic symptoms -biting at her belly and rolling) since I put her on this in March. |

| Update as of this morning - he won’t touch the supplement or the beer.
I tried it in his feed and even mixed in some Ultium Growth. He was interested in picking out the Ultium but gave up.
Any tips to get him to consume the stuff?? |

Baby steps, start with just a little bit at a time so he will get use to the different taste for a few days, I never give a full dose of any kind of supplement the first few days I always built up to the full dose. |

Location: Opelousas, LA | I have a horse that has pretty severe anhidrosis, I raised him and he really never has sweated like a normal horse, even in winter. The "normal" supplements that work for others don't seem to work for him. Is your horse eating his normal feed ok, just doesn't like the extra stuff?
With mine it seems like if I can keep his tummy happy then he sweats better so I feel like his not sweating is tied to ulcers/stress and of course that is a never ending cycle in our South Louisiana summers. I have my horse on colostrum from Biostar, Adapt and Calm from Curost, Xiang Ru San from my vet (used to get it online MUCH cheaper but they quit selling it), himalayan salt and guinness beer. I was having accupuncture done but he hates it and the stress wasn't worth it. I also give him GastroPlus from THE if I haul him anywhere and keep him up under fans during the day, turn out at night.
I have heard good things about the Mega Sweat oil but it didn't work for me, I keep mine on Camelina and Black Cumin oil all year. I also feed Renew Gold, mine can't handle any grain at all or nothing I add will make him sweat. |

Mine was on RG for a long time but started losing body condition badly on it so I switched to Seminole Dynasport. His body looks much better after being on it for 5 weeks. |

Location: Arkansas | One AC didn't work for mine & she didn't like the beer...so i did a ton of research and found out that Chaste Tree Berries powder works on their thyroid and so i started her on that 3 tsp a day, on the second day she looked like someone had sprayed her down with a water hose out in the pasture. She only gets whole oats for feed and she is pasture kept 24/7 & that kept her sweating just as good as my normal horses until July, then she stopped sweating, so i bought the Platinum Refresh and it took a couple weeks of 4 scoops a day of the Refresh and the Chaste Tree berries powder to get her sweating again....more research and i found a cheaper product than Platinum Refresh called Restore SR, it's a slow release electrolyte. So after starting her on the Restore SR i gradually decreased the dose of the Platinum Refresh back to 2 scoops a day along with the Chaste Tree powder and she is still sweating like a champ in the So. Arkansas swamp...i plan on cutting the Refresh down to 1 scoop this week but still giving her 3 scoops of the Restore SR and the 4 tsp. of Chaste Tree berries powder to see how she does. We have trail rode her this summer some but no competing. |

Mine drank hers straight from the bottle. As for the supplement, I switched to Sweat Again after 3 months of One AC. She stayed on SA through the next 3 summers with zero problems. She has been supplement free for about 5 years now and still sweating. I'm in South Mississippi. ITS HOT! |

| I’m hopeful that once he sweats again, I’ll be able to manage!!!
He’s eating the One AC now and I pour a bottle of Guiness in his PM feed. As long as he’s stalled for a while, he’ll eat it all slowly.
I DO remember him sweating under his BOT sheet earlier this spring (maybe April). |

| Another question
I go over this horse with a fine tooth comb twice a day. I’ve seen no signs of any sweat but noticed two things last night:
Dry flaky skin underneath where the girth goes (which I have read is part of this condition). He’s always had dry flaky patches on his elbows though....
And - he was wet between his back legs. I had to slide my hand way in there, but it was wet (and hasn’t been for the past week that I’ve been checking). Could that be anything other than sweat???
He’s taking his One AC and guiness every day now. He does eat alfalfa, which I’m reading maybe should be stopped.
Vet is coming next Tuesday...trying to give the One AC time to work. |
