Hi,

I am only 5'2" tall and I weigh about 125. I have always ridden in saddles with a 14.5 or 15 inch seat, but they are really too big. I now have a horse that is VERY snappy in her turns and I needed a smaller seat size. I went with a 13.5 inch Lynn McKenzie by Double J. I bought it off Ebay, so I hope it fits. What do you all think? Do they run true to size or do you think I might have gone too small? Thanks!!

Seems like to me they run just a tad larger, a friend of mine had one and I used it a few times to see how I liked them hers just seems to run a bit larger.

I have a LM Double J that is 14 1/2", I'm 120# and 5'2" on a good day. I might could use a 14" easily because I ride in a Circle Y that is 14".  I think the 13.5" might be a tad too small..............just try it out and see how it rides for you.

Yep I think a 14 would have been a better fit for the OP. But you never know untill you try

Thanks, I am just keeping my fingers crossed that it will work. I am glad to hear that they run slightly larger, but I have never ridden in a 13.5. I just happened to come across a really good price on this saddle and it's in like new condition. Good thing is, it shouldn't be hard to sell if it is too small. ( I hope not anyway!) I should get it tomorrow, so I will let you all know how it fits. At least it will give me a good idea if I need a 14? That is the size I was originally looking for in the first place.

I ride in a 1/2" bigger in Double J's. Normally a 15.5, but a 15 in Double J's. LM's new cantle is an inch wider, so it makes the leg opening smaller. Take that into consideration if you're thinking of a new style one.

My 15" LM fits bigger than any of my other 15" saddles. I'm about 210lbs and 5'7" and 15" is plenty for me and fit me well when I was 140lbs too. I have another 15" saddle that I am squished in if I ride, a 16" that fits perfect, and a 15" Reinsman that's so small my ass has to sit halfway on top of the cantle. Luckily the LM is the only one that fits my horses so I don't have to ride in the others. Mines about 7 years old and the leg opening is over an inch larger than any of my other 15" saddles.

All I ride is LM Double J's. My opinion is I think the 13 1/2" will be fine for you. My 12 y.o. daughter is 5'4 weights about 100 lbs she rides a 14" only bought it over a 13 1/2" because she is still growing. I'm 5'8 weigh 150 and the 14" also works for me. If it is to small you shouldn't have any trouble getting rid of it if it is good shape.

Just an update! I got my 13.5 inch LM saddle in and it fits!! I still have about an inch of room in front of me, so I am happy! I can't wait to run in it this weekend! Thank you all for the comments and advice on these saddles. It will definitely take me some time to get used to riding in a much smaller saddle than the 15 inch Pro Rider I have been riding in, but this little cow bred mare is super snappy in her turns and I felt like I was all over the place in that saddle!!

So I don't know about the LM but I ride the pozzi pro's and I ride in a 13. 5'4" and aaround 125lbs. I have 2 fingers clearance between my thighs and the cantle. My riding drastically improved after I switched to the double j's. Stinks that the 13's seem harder to find. I find a ton of 13.5 and larger but dont want to change what is working
