| I found a horse trailer I'm quite interested in but.....seems like they are asking too much?
1996 jamco 2 horse bumper pull with L/Q
aluminum, rear tack (not collapsible), ramp load
Bed, a/c, mini fridge, sink, shower, toilet, water tank
Was honestly looking more for a gooseneck but this looks nice. It looks in good shape....but they are asking 15000$?.... was honestly expecting about half that price...?

I agree. With that weight, a gooseneck would be safer. Join the FB group, Quality Aluminum Trailers for sale. You should be able to find what you are looking for.

I have noticed the price of used trailers are ridiculous. IMO $15k is too much for a trailer that old. I've see a 92 or 93 2 horse bp for 6K. Apparently buyers are paying these prices or I'd think they wouldn't be so high for OLD trailers. |

Location: Oklahoma | Idk where you are located, but Farrell's Trailer Sales in OK has a 2 horse 4 Star gooseneck with all that for $9650. That's way too high for that brand and how old it is. Keep looking. I have a 2011 2 horse bumper pull I'd sell for $8K, but it doesn't have an LQ.

But to me for a trailer being 26 years old that is alot of money for a bumper pull. Goosenecks are the way to go for safty reasons and so much easer to pull and park. |

| Thanks a lot guys! When I was messaged back with the price it just kind floored me ! I figured it may not be too much and could be a good step up before I can get something in a gooseneck
Aren't all aluminum trailers kinda on the way out anyway? Expensive to build, not as strong, hold heat, floors are eaten away by urine, harder to repair then steel and the welds are never as strong again.... |

| The used trailer market is much like the horse market - people can ask whatever they want and you’ll never know what they actually sell it for.
As to aluminum trailers being on the way out...? No, I don’t see that being the case at all. |

What I'm looking for I can buy brand new 2019 model for 1000-1500 more than a used one that is 3-5 years old.
edited to add - The one you listed in the original post, I personally think it is priced way too high.

Taken with a grain of salt since that article was written by a manufacturer of steel or part steel trailers.
I don’t think anyone would disagree there’s a difference is quality between a 4 Star or Platinum and an Exiss or a Lakota. I’ve owned and hauled trailers in both categories and yes, there is a major difference in quality and workmanship. There is a market for quality steel trailers, I’ve owned Titans and would own another one if I needed it. Great trailer and price point.
Also letting your aluminum trailer floor oxidize and “rot” away is more a matter of poor trailer care and maintenance, no different than letting your wood floor rot away.
Unless the high end brands are starting to use steel again in their trailers I just don’t see an “Equispirit” becoming the next “4-Star”. |

Location: Illinois | I just got 2 trade in quotes on my 2010 Kiefer 3H with 8' LQ in it and one came back $14K and one $15K, they sell around $23,000 outright. So if someone's asking $15K for a bumper LQ that's 20+ years old, doesn't really want to sell it. They probably would get offered $2,500 on trade. Go find yourself a nice 2H gooseneck with a weekender package or something. It will be safer and you can still find one well within that price range in good shape. Facebook seems to be the best way to find them or the horse trailer world spinoff of this site.
As for aluminum, I don't want steel. A lot of them still have steel frames on them & if you maintenance the floors properly each year you're fine. I had a 3h bumper pull that was steel with a fiberglass roof, just enough space up front to put saddles and 1 person to stand in. It weighed 1,000lbs more than my gooseneck with LQ. That's why aluminum will never be on the out. A friend had a steel Featherlite gooseneck with 4' short wall LQ and 3h and he needed a dually to pull it, it weighed close to 20,000lbs with horses it. That's 6,000lbs more than what mine is fully loaded and my LQ is 2x the size. People won't be able to have big trailers without Freightliners or equivalent vehicles to pull them if they weren't aluminum.

All aluminum trailers (good brands) are a much better trailer than a steel or steel/aluminum trailer. There are pros and cons to every brand. Yes, I do work for a trailer manufacturer and know how our trailers are built (overbuilt) from the ground up as I can go in the shop at any given time and see where trailers are at. I'd be happy to answer any questions via pm as some people here think I push my brand. |
