Im watching the Futurity and there are over 50 turnouts? Just curious as to why so many? Weather? Injuries? Anyone have any idea? If they are paid up do they get their money back or any portion? just curious how this all works.

No you do not get your money back.

These are your 4 yr olds, so last years futurity horses. Some are injured, some have been sold to new owners, some need a break, and some are just not profitable to take....it costs money to go out there and stay the week. If you know your horse hasn't been working might just not be profitable to take them.

Payments start in January. Some horses that get paid in end up not being competitive or they’re injured. You can’t sell your spot or vet
Release out so they’re scratched.

I don't understand why they don't have turnouts at the end rather than in the draw. It takes so much time when they have 1 or 2 horses in a drag. Changes have to be made before mid October if there are subs so why not establish a check in process before the draw is posted?

Word

Also I'm interested in seeing a print out of the pay of the 100k last night

They added 10 more slots. Last year I think the BFA made 40 or 30k off the slot race?

It pays 100k to win then it drops to 35k. Like to me thats just crazy we need to be paying out more to those 2nd and 3rd place holes. Making 40k off the slot race alone is kinda crazy. PAY THAT MONEY OUT!

ETA: they paid out 250k of 300k....I really feel like that money should be paid out. At least 20 more thousand to contestants

I am aware that they spend a lot on nice jeackets for owner and rider but after spending about 4k on the jackets or less still should be able to pay out more *white girl shoulder shrug*

I mean I'll wait til they have the BFA meeting because it's already going to be a topic for the board of directors to discuss anyways, as I know many contests feel the same way and are already voicing their opinions. But your sarcasm is greatly appreciated when it comes to matters of business and where money is allocated src='/forum/images/emoticons/06thumbsup.gif'>

Good deal.

I'm sure I'll have my 2-3 entries like I do every year. You'll just have to let me know what number you are so we can spend that cash.
