What makes these papers appendix? Is this an error or am I overlooking something?

Who is claiming they are appendix? I can't see any way they would be?

I can't see any TB blood in there either to make them appendix.  Either someone is claiming them wrong or AQHA REALLY screwed something up.

Her papers say appendix on them. She has an X before her registration number as does her dam. The only reason I looked so close is because my grandfather happens to have bred this mare (we bought her from someone else) and I knew her parents.  Has to be a mistake.

How hard is it going to be to have the AQHA fix this?

Do you have membership money? You can log on and pull a pedigree on her and find out where the appendix horse in her pedigree is.

I do, I also have her papers in hand and they all state quarter horse until her dam....neither of her dams parents are appendix. I think this is an error on the AQHAs part.

I haven't but plan to give them a call prior to sending in the transfer report.

The only thing I could think of is that one of the dam's parents earned an ROM and were advanced after the dam was born and nobody requested permanent numbers for the already existing offspring. But there are no appendix registered horses in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th generations, either. Looks like a weird error on AQHA's part.

Also, Sugar Bars was not appendix registered, he had a permanent number. I mean, he would have been appendix registered at birth, but he earned his racing ROM and was advanced into the permanent registry. Someone on the Allbreed site just has him mistakenly listed as "Appendix" instead of "Quarter Horse." There are mistakes like this all over that site.Β

On allbreed, Appendix is the very first choice when it asks for the breed. Then you have to scroll for a long time to get to Quarter Horse. I’m assuming some lazy person didn’t want to scroll. Anyone can edit a pedigree there. I edited Appendix on Sugar Bars to Quarter Horse. Heck, even the description on there lists his regisyeration number. And it isn’t an appendix number.

The actual registration papers have her as appendix. I am also guessing mistake

SKM was just talking about Sugar Bars being listed as appendix on Allbreed, not the OP's filly. :)Β

(the Sugar Bars stuff is in relation to Kay-DRacing's post above.)

Just a heads up, even if it is an error that AQHA made, AQHA will try and charge you as the "current owner" to correct the mistake.  I have had to argue and stand my ground with AQHA over mistakes they have made in the past.  IMO, AQHA really needs to focus on improving their customer service. I totally understand why people don't keep papers current on their horses, fix mistakes, etc.  If i do anything with AQHA now, i wait until i can see a rep in person at an event...and then i check everything on the papers right then and there.

Thank you for the heads up, I hope this doesn't turn into a fiasco.

I have never had a problem with AQHA UNTIL we attended Dixie Nationals in 2017. There was a guy that knew my trainer well that said he was responsible for the timer and everything involved with it. Seems some bimbo stopped the timer during my horse’s run. There was no back up timer which is an AQHA rule. The woman said she stopped the timer. AQHA did not responded to any phone call, letter, email, nothing. Dixie Nationals sent me a letter saying that since my trainer was offered a reride everything was ok. (She really wasn’t offered a reride. She was told she would have to run again after the next ten horses) Ever since I have had problems transferring horses, registering babies you name it. The best one was the last time I called about a new registration, the woman told me that I needed to get the breeder to have a statement notarized then I would have to have that statement notarized and send it to them. Breeder and I live 250 miles apart. All this hassle and the papers had already been mailed.

This is is the very short version of the Dixie Nationals story. Point is the show did not adhere to AQHA RULES  and AQHA did nothing. If you question anything they do you are screwed.

Yeah,...and then LMAO, if you don't comply with what AQHA wants you to do, they can say you are "not in good standing".  Good thing i am not afraid to be a rebel and stand up for what is right.

So I spoke with AQHA, and the person told me to fill out a correction form... however there is no place on the form for this type of correction. Going to call them back and explain in further detail.
