Location: Arkansas | And we can sure use prayers. . . They polypiped my parent's house last night about midnight. Things are ok right this second, but the water is rising pretty good . Lord it brings back memories from 2016 when Chris died and Momma flooded within 2 days of each other . Chan is staying busy but I can tell those memories are weighing on him too. (It was March 11/13 in 2016.) Our former nightman on the fish ponds lives at the end of our road, and Chan and Lula Bell are down there now---looks like the water is gonna go in his house tonight, so they're working hard. The barn flooded, but not as bad as 16. However, the water is rising down there too. . . . Appreciate any good thoughts y'all can spare. |

No mam, not sure why we get water like we do . We think the drainage ditches, etc, need to be maintained . And they're definitely not. Miss Norma, I fear the same thing. We've heard the MS River is gonna top the 2011 (i hope that's the right year) stage, and that's scary. I'm not sure I trust the levees anymore!! On the good side, Chandler and LB think they got enough protection up at Roberto's that his house should hold. Sure hope so. |

Location: n.c. | Prayers for ya'll. Flooding is no fun. We've been thru it in 16 and 18. Momma finally said she was thru fighting the water and she did not attempt to fix her house after last year. That was the third time. No, they don't clean canals, ditches or dredge anymore. Plus with all the construction in big cities and trying to divert the water, it's got to go somewhere. |

My parents were out of their house from Mar to Sept in 2016; had to redo the entire house . She gets so nervous every time the rain sets in now . If it floods this time I think she may move . I'm the treasurer of a drainage district (not the one we live in tho), and we do NOTHING unless the Corp tells us to. And that is very very little every few years. And it's on basically the same bigger ditches each time. Plus we have money. Seems to me these drainage districts and such could do more. . . |

Location: Kansas | I sympathize with you as I'm sure many on this board do. I grew up along a river that flooded periodically and not only was the floodwater horrible but the debris it left behind was too. Now where I live the water level is a problem when there's lots and lots of rain. It comes up through the cracks in the floor of our basement and if we didn't shop vac it up constantly it would fill the basement. It was no problem at all until the nearby city of Derby quit using the water from our acquifer. They caused a lot of misery for a lot of people when they did this. My house is nice but now I want to burn it down. |

Momma said it would almost be better if it was fire rather than water that got it; I told her no, at least with water you can get your memories out. . . It's just devastating whichever way you look at it. |

Location: Missouri | Praying for ya'll, Chandler's Mom. We haven't had any massive flooding this year (yet) but being so close to the Mississippi River, and with spring coming, it's bound to happen. It seems to flood a lot more often in recent years. |

Location: Oklahoma | I can so sypathize with you! I live in a flood zone! the shop is out of the flood zone and house is above elevation but its a trailer house up really high not on stilts but close lol. Usually when we flood is when the rain comes so fast and no break and when it stops the flood gone in a few hours. And used to flood bout every 10 years now that span shortened. I am so surprised that we havent flooded yet but we are very saturated that it wouldnt take much! I married into the place lol We want house and we do not want to build where we are at! and we was very blessed to be able to buy some raw land bout 12 miles from us and the first thing we checked was elevation! lol Course now we gotta figure out how to build. But anyways we did lose a house trailer in the last flood. I never realized but flood water is not just water! The gunk and slim that was left in that house trailer! and the applicances the insurance guy said do not try to save bc no matter how much cleaning you do it will not be enough bc of mold and crap that sets up weeks afterwards is what is bad. What sad was seeing the line of people on the side of the road watching the water rising to almost the roof tops! It was like a scene from TV but I was there. Very unreal! and the cleanup! uggg Praying for you and everyone that you dont have to go through flood! I really feel for the people that flood and dont live in a flood zone! At least in the flood zone you know its gonna happen you just dont know when! Why I dont have anything in my yard and all flowers and things on my high porch and my truck and trailer always facing the road so we can pull straight out! And I have 2 stalls that is buildt right by our shop that I can stick horses in til its gone bc my pasture is not above elevation. At least we are 1/2 way prepared tho it still so stressful! |

Like Chandler's Momma said sometimes fire is better than water. At least you don't have to try to figure out whether to restore. It's a loss. |
