What would you consider to be reasonably priced when it comes to reserving stalls and RV hookups at a multiple day event? Say for instance this event has $15,000 added with stalls and hookups being for 3 nights (Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights) with a bag of shavings included in the stall rental.  At what point is too much for your stall and RV hookup? P.s. this post is not intended to price gouge and see what we could jack the prices to, but rather figure out if we need to work more toward getting sponsors and fundraising to lower the prices. Right now we are looking at an $80 stall fee and $80 RV hookup fee for the 4 day/3 night span. Thanks in advance for any input!

They seem high to me separated out. For me, it depends on stall, what it is, how many bags I have to provide in addition to the stall charge, do I have to put down a ‘foundation’ of some sort, etc.. Bigger shows can run higher.  

As far as RV hook-up, that can run $35-125 depending on show and how many days.

Stalls in question are 12x12, permanent stalls, dirt floors. No requirements for any additional bags over what comes with the stall. Not even required to purchase shavings on site.

As a facility owner, I feel the $60 for stall and RV for the 4 day/3 night is fair, especially if bedding is provided.  It's equivilant to my rates and I've never heard a complaint.

Depending on if I'd pay the $80 for each would depend on the event, how close to home and how bad I wanted to go.  Does the place offer dry camping?  If so free or a charge?  Self penning?

When I went to ANHA in Waco I'm thinking we payed 65 for stalls for the 3 nights we were there and 60 for the RV for the three nights also. I know it was not any more then that.. Seems like it was 120 for the both.. 

Shavings not included.. maybe one bag, but who uses only one bag. I have always used at least 8 or more bags threw out the days I were there since I was always cleaning stalls and having to use more shavings to replace what I would throw out.

That’s the point.

If I am at a big show staying for 4-5 days, I am going through 8 bags. If you go to Congress, you need some kind of sub-floor. Plus, you usually have to clean the stalls out prior to putting down your own bedding/sub-floor. Congress can be really high for what you get/have to do. Plus, you go through 8 bags.

If you go to OKC for any big show, you will still do 8 bags in 4-5 days. But they are basic stalls and ready to go. We still put down a sub-floor.

Have been to other places, for like 2-3 nights and paid $35-40 for stalls (plus like 4-5 bags of my shavings) and maybe $50 for hook-ups. That is a medium size show..150-250 head.

Perry Ga charges $30.00 30amp; $45.00 50amp, per night.....and then depending on the show...add $5.00 to each.....I am guessing that goes to the show producer........maybe...

Then depending on the producer stalls can range from $100.00 (NoBulls Finals), (NBHA Triple Crown), to $140.00 (NBHA World Show) 

Jacksonville Equestrian Center RV hookups $40.00 per night.....

Guthrie lazy e charges like 60$ for stalls plus shavings - I understand something needs paid because someone has to clean all those stalls out when we leave but I feel like they’re making a ton of money even at this median rate - doesn’t take 30 minutes to strip a stall and most of the time these bigger places use bobcat and open the stalls up and it’s pretty quick ... bbr okc wants 95 for stalls plus shavings - and that seems high to me but if you wanna go you gotta pay it... there’s overhead and I understand that they have to hire janitors and groundskeepers and all thatbcosts money but most ropings I go to have way more added money and pots and the stalls are like 30$ for the weekend and include two bags of shavings and rv plug in was free .. people like to compare the winnings at ropings and want higher pots but something’s gotta give - and stall fees and grounds fees while I understand they have to get paid but at some point it’s not affordable to pay higher entries higher stall fees higher rv fees etc etc I mean we still have to feed shoe andnvet our horses not to mention fuel and expenses to get to the races and can only use their shavings stinks too when it’s double the cost of a bag of shavings anywhere else. Definitely makes me pick and choose where I go sometimes!  Would also add I don’t mind 60$ but higher than that per horse I start to question my logic for going lol 

Place down the road from me started charging $48 for 2 nights for stalls with 1 bag of bedding when the new people took it over, they don't sell out of stalls anymore. They have a no tie out rule as well. A lot of people started hauling daily if they were fairly close. Our NBHA state is $70 for a stall I think with no shavings and it was I think $25 a night for electric. Lots of people now run generators. Prices weren't advertised for electric beforehand, they had always been $20 nightly before. That caused a good stir. Our state show isn't hardly worht going anymore, but if it were a higher money show with more entires like Great Lakes, or a barrel bash then I'd be more comfotable paying that for the time I'm there. We always go first thing Thursday morning-Sunday evening so I feel for 4 days it's not awful. They charge electric by the night, so we plug in for 4 days and only pay for 3. Same kind of thing down the road, I go friday morning and leave late sunday eveneing so I'm getting 3 days and 2 nights for $40 there. It's a half hour drive and a $15 jump out per horse, easier to just stay the weekend. But typically I think for a 3 day event, somehwere between $60-70 for each is fair and would make me more inclined to keep coming to future events. Big shows like World and stuff charge more bc they can, they know those people are going to still come to something that major. A weekend event doesn't quite have that certainty unless the money is penomenal. 

But the stalls are only $45 for two nights at Perry for a cutting..............................

I did forget to add that I think producers in the last 5-10 years raised rates on both stalls and even more hook-ups. More people got LQ trailers and I guess it is supply/demand.

I would think that if cutting was less, they are making it up in an entry fee or somewhere else.

It is like taxes, you pay it somewhere.

Alot with LQ's have generators so really dont need to pay for hookups.. 

WOW! I wish I could find a place were stalls were only $60 for a weekend!  The majority of the shows I go to (reined cowhorse, not barrels) stalls are $100+ for weekend events and $200+ for week long events.  I feel that many producers are upping the stall fees to cover the facility rental...  if that means more of the entry fees goes into the pot, it benefits the contestant, if it means they are still taking that share out of the entires, we are getting jyped.  I absolutley hate paying more for stalls than I pay in entries!  I also hate paying more for a stall that I pay for a dang hotel room.

You can do the math........the stalls are doubled at some shows...........

Also never a tie out fee for the day either in Perry at a cutting.
