Done it more then a few times, I have shipped threw USPS and UPS depends on whos got the best rate, the smaller the box the cheaper it will be for you to ship, fine a box that the saddle will be snug in and dont move around. I always wrap the saddle horn..I always put insurance on the saddle and have it to when the saddle arrives it has to be signed for so I know that it got there.

Edit to add" It would cost me about 65.00 to 75.00 sometimes more depends on how much insurance and depends on where you are at, the cost is different in different states. The insurance cost would depent on how much the saddle is worth and I would ask the buyer how much insurance they would like to be put on the saddle just in case something happens to the saddle, like if its lost.

I’ve shipped many many many. USPS is cheaper but it will average 30-50 to ship it.

Pay for insurance.  It’s an additional cost, but I know people who have had to use it on some pretty pricey saddles.

Smallest box possible - Home Depot has heavy duty moving boxes which are nice and heavy.  Lots of tape.

Honestly, each time I ship I quote all 3 of the big shippers plus DHL using their online tools.  Each destination will make a difference on price and time.

I just sent one last week from WA to LA through USPS and it cost $93 with insurance. It was only $10 less (~$83) to send it slow so I sent it Priority. I figured the less time it is in transit, the less time it has to be damaged or lost. It was in the smallest box I could fit it into and it was a medium weight saddle IMO. I didn’t check UPS because the closest location is 50 minutes away and it wasn’t worth the hassle.
