Location: Illinois | I use the Hidez ice socks. They've worked best for me. Just have to keep ice on hand for them. But I can tie mine to the trailer in summer after a run and put them on and even an hour later their legs are cold after the ice has melted. I haul with a cooler so I always have ice with me, my fridge isn't large enough for all the food and drinks |

| Does the ice fit in the boots all of the way down the leg in the Hidez Ice Boot? I looked at these online and would be interested, but I want to know where the ice pockets are on the boots. |

| I started using the Ice Horse boots last summer, I really like the Tendon boots, they fit well and the ice packs stay cold for a long time on the leg. I just bought a pair of the Suspensory boots, and they take some work getting on the leg with the 4 ice packs, but I like that it covers the fetlock. I am able to keep the ice packs cold in my freezer in the living quarters, but would imagine they would stay cold in a cooler as well. |

I use the Hidez Ice Boots as they are easier for me to travel with. Just buy a bag of ice at the gas station, and load it up in the ice chest. The pocket for the ice goes all the way to seam on the pastern area, however, I personally find it really awkward to fill that far, so I just fill around the top of the fetlock and up. BUT! As the ice melts, the ice slides down and the material gets soaked in that area so the rest ends up cold anyways. |

If I'm icing more than one set of legs or if I need to save a little bit of ice for the cooler, I'll fill the top part of the socks and let it melt down the leg rather than packing the socks full of ice top to bottom. These are probably my favorite strategy for keeping horses feeling great on the summer rodeo road. We love them so much that we have 2 full sets of smalls, a full set of mediums, a pair of large fronts and I used UBRA prize money to get another full set of mediums. ETA - my other piece of advice is to buy a cheap set of measuring cups from Wal-Mart and use the 3/4 or 1 cup one to scoop up ice and fill the socks. The cups I have are kind of rectangular shaped with a pour spout on one end so they work perfectly. Just don't overfill the measuring cup.....it's easy to spill ice.....but the cups are WAY easier than scooping ice into the socks by hand.

| I tried a pair of Ice boots that I wish I never got cause they didn't stay where they needed to. I will suggest this, I use the coolaid wraps cause you can wet them down and stick them in your cooler and don't have to worry about needing all that ice.It isn't as good but I do like using those and they're affordable. Just another idea. |

Location: Illinois | I can get ice from bottom seam to top opening on my hidez. When I buy ice I always buy a big back and small bag for the cooler, then I use the little bag for the hidez. I just beat it to hell on the ground and the ice gets broken up a lot better and I get a lot more smaller pieces. Or if you have a Sonic near you, they sell their small pellet ice in bags at most locations. Or like others have said, just let the ice melt for about 5 minutes and it will drop down and then just top it off on the top again. My horse is black and my socks are black and in the summer sun it keeps his legs ice cold for an hour or so without adding ice. I've tried every other kind out there and this lasts the longest and gives the most coverage I think. |
