Location: NE Texas | Can anyone provide registered names of successful Thoroughbreds in the barrel pen. Not appendix - Jockey Club registered. I'm bored and curious to research their lineage/back ground, etc. |

| A girl local to me recently bought one. She ended up blossoming into a true 1D horse. Was winning rodeos and setting arena records when she was apparently not scrubbed for injections and developed an infection that ultimately caused her to be euthanized. She was something to watch. Seattle Sioux

Location: Feeding mosquitos, FL | Best one I can think of recently is Hope to Burn that Kate Keeney won a bunch of stuff on. I have a TB mare right now that's trying to be good if her rider has her act together. She's not the most athletic creature I've ever ridden but she has more try than anything else on the place. |

| Arghazi - probably one of the more successful ones, ridden by Lindsay Jensen. Here is an article on them after they filled her permit; https://www.paulickreport.com/features/aftercare-spotlight/cosequin-presents-aftercare-spotlight-not-first-thoroughbred-rodeo/ http://offtrackthoroughbreds.com/2013/06/04/three-fast-barrels-to-challenge-thoroughbreds/ You can google them, there are a few articles of them out there! Of course I'm biased..but the gelding I have now is one of the nicest barrel horses I've ever had, over my qh's also. His name is Tax Enough. But I don't rodeo, just local jackpot. Part of the RRP (retired racehorse project) is a barrel racing competition, and some of them are actually pretty decent! |

Location: Kansas | Patti Hoffman had a pretty good competitor named Black Chain. That was a long time ago. TB's are not built for the rodeo arena. (definitely exceptions though)

Seattle Sioux
if the same one loaded on All Breed, then it's an appendix / QH Sire X TB Mare |

| The Western Thoroughbred on FB has a whole page dedicated to OTTBs and their new lives. Pretty good page. |

| Was Xtrared a full TB? I know she was by Red, a TB. I remember seeing her on one of Jill Lane's ads. |

Location: Kansas | I hope we have a success story to post on a thread like this in a couple years. My husband's aunt hooked us up with a NICE 5 year old mare who won $40K on the track and Matt is going to start retraining her under a western saddle later this week. She's only about 16 hands, has a lot of quick speed, and seems to be able to gather herself up and stop quickly so we're hopeful that she can make the transition. She's darn sure fast enough.....my poor Clifford is one of the flat out fastest barrel horses around and she can run away from him without even trying. https://www.pedigreequery.com/hope+n+wishes |

I'm really interested to see how this plays out for you and best of luck! I've always had a pipe dream of having a OTTB turned barrel horse success story. Right now my kids are little and I don't have the time to be bringing one along, but perhaps when they get bigger. |

Thanks! We're excited about her too. It was a pretty lucky turn of events that brought her to us but I think it will be a lot of fun. Luckily, my husband enjoys the slow monotonous patterning work because I really don't enjoy it! |

Ooooooh Xtrared is an all-time favorite. She's one of the reasons JL Reddy to Charm is on my shortlist of boyfriends. |
