My 4yo that I’ve been running for a few months now has gotten oddly lethargic. Her demeanor when you’re around her on the ground is about the same but she went from bucking and playing wild on a lunge line to just lazy. And is extremely lazy under saddle. I don’t know if it’s just because she’s gotten seasoned and is growing up and mellowing our or what.

I have done complete bloodwork on her and it all came back normal. She eats D&D magnify about 4lb 2x a day, and unlimited very good quality Bermuda hay. I don’t know what I can do to wake her up some? Lexotinic? I’ve had her on Red Cell and it did nothing. Help!!

Checked for all tick diseases as well? EPM? When my gelding came up really lethargic, I immediately checked for those 2 things. Turned out he had Anaplasmosis. Also, is she running a temp?

EPM went through my mind as well!!

I have not checked her for a fever. She doesn’t act “sickly” or anything she just has no pep when you’re riding. On the ground she’s still pretty normal, maybe not quite as silly or quirky as she once was

Maybe try a different formula of that feed?  Isnt the magnify the higher fat one? My one horse is lazy anyway but he seriously got a lot more lazy when I had him on ultium .. people said that feed either mellows them out or makes them nuts.. he was already mellow to begin with but the ultium made him sloth like... it's a pretty high fat feed.  After I put him on a ration balancer and added alfalfa cubes.. he picked up some .. normal mellow... not extra lazy mellow... hes on bluebonnet sr therapy now with alfalfa cubes fed at lunch and hes seems to be just right on that. Still a tad on the lazy side when doing exercises at home but I've come to realize that's just him... he was nicknamed "crush" at the trainers barn because he said he reminds him of the turtle on finding Nemo lol!! The sr therapy is 14/8
