We are relocating to Indiana (Evansville area). I have been searching for horse boarding high and low over google/FB and cannot come up with anything concrete. Does anyone know anyone in this area?

Looking for boarding, vets, and a farrier! Oh and a place to live still LOL! We eventually want to purchase a farm but need to sell the amazing one we are leaving behind in another state.

All recommendations welcome! Thank you in advance!

I have no personal knowledge, but here is a link to horse motels.  You might be able to call someone who overnights and see what is available for long term boarding or options. https://www.horsemotel.com/Indiana.html

I'm 40 miles south of Evansville. I'm not sure of boarding facilities in Evansville but I'm sure there are some. I know a guy that has a boarding facility just across the river in Henderson, Ky. There used to be a ton of horse shows in the Evansville area. Now not so much.

On that list posted above only Chandler and Oakland City are close to Evansville.

Welcome to the neighborhood. I'm about 25 mils south of Evansville in a itty-bitty town called Corydon, Ky. I'm not sure about boarding facilities in Evansville, but its nigging my mind that there are a couple of english based ones. Maybe the gals at the vet clinic could recommend someone. There are 3 facilities on my side of the river. Rick Keeling (spelling?) has a western based facility. Two english based ones are Rolling Hills and Blue Moon. All 3 facilities have indoor arenas.

There is one vet I'd recommend. Dr. Stone with StoneRidge Equine (8120 867-7330. . Good all around horse vet, has surgery room, very good on the reproductive side if you breed. If I've got a more tricky lameness issue, I go to Tony Hicks in Lone Oak, Ky. My teeth guy comes out of IL  Tim Oxby is the local barrel racing background farrier. I don't have his number, but his girlfriend is Jessica (812) 457-5254.  They might also be able to suggest somewhere to board.

There are a decent number of local contest shows. Still a few local clubs putting them on. There is a place called Tri state vet (812) 477-4793  that is pretty good for supplies. There will also be a horseman's calender there that lists local shows and contact people. Lee, the manager, may also be able to recommend boarding. On the ky side for shows- there are always fair shows, Monthly shows in Fredonia, Powderly (in the winter), Elizabethtown, and pockets around Louisville. Cloverdale, IN has a lot of barrel shows (C bar C expo center).  Southern IL has something nearly every weekend. Mckinneys (618) 997-6974    in Marion, IL is a great tack shop. They also have a card for Southern IL barrel shows. If you sweet talk them, they'll drop one in the mail for you- but its definitly worth the drive if you are looking for tack/clothing. You can check out www.rearintogo.weebly.com for a good website showing local shows. Brandice does a great job of trying to keep up with anything within 100 miles or so.

Give luluwhit (or however she spells it) a shout out on here. She lives above Evansville. She's pretty cool, and would be very helpful.

i am pretty cool.... hahaha thanks for the shout out classy!!!

I live 50 miles ne of evansville.  Boonville/chandler has several boarding stables.  Check with Kodie Williams at Coyote Creek Ranch.  Tell her Laura says hi!  https://www.facebook.com/CCRBoonville/?eid=ARDhWwcF6Pfr7actSrWkY0FKcMXgknLh0pGpuiCSQe2KGx3QQSKcuC8olRS7E3y9nOn9EqAS9Kg3ubTV&timeline_context_item_type=intro_card_work&timeline_context_item_source=100000624851153&fref=tag

The recommendations from KC are spot on for this area.  There are a few farriers around and depending on where you board they will have great reccomendations or someone comming regularly also.

Hope you love So IN as much as i do and if we cross paths be sure and say Hey!  Laura Whitsitt  aka luluwhit

Thank you all for the great advice! We are beginning our process of moving to Evansville! Our temporary housing is west of Owensboro, so hoping to find horse boarding around there! Still haven’t found boarding quite yet!

Looking forward to meeting you all at some races!

There's a place right on 60 west of Owensboro, technically still in Owensboro that used to board. The sign still says Cowboy's but it's different owners. There's an arena there where they used to have shows but no more.

There was a tack shop there too. They still board but I guess you would have to go in there and ask who to talk to.

Between Owensboro and Henderson there is really nothing. Rick Kellen in Henderson boards. You can see his place from the interstate in henderson. It's hard by the interstate.

I love the area, but it's home. I've lived in western Ky all my life so I don't know anything else. I work all those areas you are asking about. I was in Owensboro Monday, I'll be in Henderson and Evansville today.

Do you have any recommendations on the most family friendly communities? We love rural areas but also hoping to find a good church and school system! We have two young boys.

Boonville, newburgh (wont feel like you left evansville), Princeton, Mt Vernon have walmarts.  Most areas have a decent school system in place and the smaller towns around these areas will feed into them.  You have several different county options and each has a school system in place.  Warrick, Gibson, Posey countys.  Gibson co has a plant for toyota and the cost of living is a little higher there than what you will find in eastern warrick co.  Tecumseh schools (warrick co) arround Lynnville are a small class 1A schools system.  Where you find Castle schools (Newburgh but still Warrick co) is a 5A large class school district.  You will find good teaching in each system.  the designation is mostly for sports and has the teams in indiana set up to play in there designated class so you dont have the smallest school playing the largest with football teams (if that makes any sense?)

Along the I64 corridor you will find lots of barrel races and you will only be 2hrs from c bar c in cloverdale that hosts many great events all year long.  Not alot of rodeo action in this area tho.  If you have any specific questions pm me.  id be glad to give you my number.

The Henderson area is pretty good. I lived in Henderson for 6 years. It's close to Evansville for when you want the city but small enough to be called a town. It is basically a bedroom community for Evansville but they sure hate being called that.

In rural western Ky we have either a bank or a church on every corner so you should be able to find a church home.
