What is everyone's experience with High Brow Cat babies and grandbabies? We have  a 3 yr old mare that is a little spooky and not real broncky but has proved she can buck lol is this some of the traits of a High Brow baby? She is super athletic and got some moves.

My husband's heel horse is by Little Cat Olena by High Brow Cat.  He's 13, drop dead gorgeous and since the age of 3 has been solid as a rock at his job.  I recall my husband telling me this horse crow-hopped a little a time or two but I've never seen him do it so it must not have happened.  (kidding, I'm sure it did but it had to have been a rare occasion).

I would call him kid friendly and citizen senior friendly which makes him friendly for anyone.

I have a great granddaughter, I know it’s a little further back but she still has a lot of HBC traits, and she does get pretty hot. Nothing dangerous or uncontrollable, but hotter than I like one to be

My Wild Haired Cat gelding gets nervous, but he's awesome. Only time he gets a hump to him is when he's cow fresh. He's a cutter. Otherwise no buck.

We have a grandson who is one of the best-minded horses I've been around (he's 2). He's super athletic but doesn't really want to buck. What I've heard (and seen with this guy) is that they're generally pretty forgiving and trainable.

Ok, so we don't have a direct daughter of HBC but do have a daughter out of a brother to him.  https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/shay+mon+doc

She is COWY...so cowy that sometimes its an issue for her.  She can be hot when working cattle.  Super quick footed and fast.  And she loves running the barrels. Its really crazy, she will walk out of the arena after a run on a loose rein and licking her lips.  Has run in the 1-D barrels and poles with limited outs.  I love roping on her but the box isn't her friend, like I said, she gets really hot.  You have to score quite a bit and do exercises to keep her quiet in the box so I tend to not choose her to rope on.  Fanstastic ranch horse...she will climb a tree for you.  In fact, we have to be careful with her on the mountain because she will not quit you even when her body is telling her to shut it down. My husband loves her, when he has a stray cow to get in he wants Chocolate....says he will come home successful if he is on her.

I bred her this year, as she is 14,  and I am SOOO excited!  Bred her to a son of Dunnit Rawhide.

Thanks for the input!!! My husband is really hoping she will get past this. LOL!! She had a rough life before we got her we have only had her for 4 months and she just turned 3, I really think her trust and maturity level is not where it should be but hopefully we will get her turned around. I have heard nothing but great things about HBC offsprings.

I have a 5yo out of an own daughter of HBC and by an own son of Smart Little Lena. I’ve owned her since the end of her 3yo year and I promise I hated her at first. She was fractious and so d**** fast she would run over the top of you before you even knew what happened when she spooked. I thought she was going to end up being a dink with pretty papers. Lol! She threw some bad little bucks when I first started her, too. Since coming into her 5yo year she has matured SO MUCH. She is now so gentle and settled and well on her way to becoming a jam up kids horse. I would love to take credit for that, but she’s honestly been on the back burner and has come to her new mindset on her own. Literally the definition of a late bloomer to me. Hang in there! They are awesome little ponies!

I had a granddaughter of HBC  she was an own daughter of Sophisticated Cat. Was a reject cutter and sick quick. 14.1 hands and she could be a bully! Someone once told me you have to be pretty intelligent to handle a HBC horse. Lol! She was super smart and to quick for me! She was a beauty.

You either get along with a cat or you dont.

I've always found them honest and good natured but they need a purpose. Kinda like a high drive dog, I'm not saying they need worked to death but the same circle day after day dosent seem to be thier thing.

I had a highbrow cat gelding and he was a dang nice horse SO naturally talented... but he was a unpredictable bronc. He would be fine for months and randomly break in two on you. Never the same situation so no idea of what would cause it. I will say this particular horse had a rough start in life and the breeder said they had several Broncs by the same high brow cat son.   If I was braver I have no doubt he could have been a 1D horse. I ended up selling him because I had just had a baby and a major surgery and they lady I sold him to took him to sand dunes to work the buck out and he was solid for her till she started trying to run him as well then he became unpredictable randomly bucking every few months. I am catituous of owning another after him but I don’t think he’s typical of them either and if it hadn’t been for the bucking he was sure a nice horse.
