| vjls - 2019-10-01 12:50 PM he is to quiet miss his post Interesting enough I just heard from him. Apparently he left his wife for a Asian stripper named Seasame and has moved to Malasia. He took his dog because he is so fond of her. He left all of his horses to the local PETA group because he just really loves the work they do. I also heard through the grape vine that he is now a strong political advocate of Bernie Sanders. Because he is fed up with overpaid surgeons and doctors and such, and belives all people should have an equal chance to succeed, not just those with education and work ethic. His estranged wife, tried to talk some sense into him, but after she found out about his little trist with herpes, she gave up all cares and just walked away. I dont blame her. Would you? He really is a lost soul.

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Good one Whiteboy! I've been around. I check in now and then. Just trying to stay busy. My friend here has been trying to "Texify" me over the past couple years, so we're going dove hunting tomorrow. I've hunted a lot, but this will be my first time. I can't imagine killing those pretty itty bitty birds, but they claim they're good eating. A few months ago I went hog hunting for the first time. Didn't care too much for that. I didnt know they don't shoot them. Not my cup of tea. I do love the fishing on the intercoastal. Sea trout is fantastic. Peggy is right....I'm still fighting the good fight and pi$$ing off snowflakes once in a while! |

| Doves are amazing!!! You can leave them with the breast bone, or you can breast them out. We typically let them soak in salt water for a day, then we soak them in Olive Garden Italian Dressing (walmart) and then wrap them in bacon and you can either grill or bake them. My husband does all that, but fills a jalapeno with cream cheese and adds a breast to the jalopeno before wrapping. I'm not sure I'd be a fan of hog hunting with dogs, but there are lots of places that shoot them too. I hunt coyotes with dogs and it's fun, but hogs are so much more mean than coyotes. lol |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | My buddy, Jay, is an equine dentist who is about 12 years younger than me. He likes making fun of me every chance he gets, but it works both ways. He and my vet from LaGrange both gang up on me. Last year my vet asked me to go with him duck hunting, and I jumped at the chance. I went through more than a box of shells and only had a couple ducks to show for it. Danny (the vet) didn’t shoot any better, but he told Jay I was a rotten shot. I gave Danny an earful for his slanderous remarks and Danny was pi$$ed at Jay for opening his mouth. I haven’t heard the end of it since, and Jay has been mercilessly teasing me, so I’m fixing to kick his a$$ dove hunting. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield around those two. So, as you can see, my mental energy has been sapped by this kind of circular firing squad of smart ass friends. I swear those two are worse than catty old ladies in a beauty parlor. I told them as much too. Nonetheless, I will always have an appetite for a heated political debate. Seriously though, I’ll never be a full-blooded Texan, but I’m getting closer and having some great new friends is priceless. It’s great having friends where you are genuinely more than happy to drop whatever you are doing to help them out with something, knowing the feeling is mutual. Nobody keeps score. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | My favorite upland game is partridge (Hungarian) and all I do is salt and pepper it, dust it thoroughly in flour, and just pan fry it. I don’t like a lot of seasonings other than salt and pepper, because I don’t want to disguise the fantastic flavor with stuff like bacon.....although I think bacon is good with everything. I can’t get enough bacon. I’m thinking quail might be very good just pan fried like partridge, Anyone else make it this way? I eat walleye this way....salt, lemon pepper, flour, and fried in butter/oil. It’s the best. |

Location: LuluLand~along I64 Indiana | quail at one tme was almost extint in our area. the last 20 years you had to go to a game preserve to shoot them and the season was short. i have seen a few in the last several years, i think they are making a slow comeback. Lots of doves around tho. Im with you not sure about shooting the pretty birds. but vowed along time ago i would fix what the boys shot and brought home. most birds/rabbit/squirrel i fix like grandma did.... in gravey. YUM! |

The bacon keeps them from drying out. They're pretty dang small and cook pretty fast. |
