My taxes always been pretty simple til this year.  Will be getting a tax person.  Was just wondering bout what to be prepared to pay?  Is is cheaper if I do all my receipts and just give the numbers or do they require the receipts and they figure themselves? thanks

We itemize and have some business income and I pay roughly $150. That said, I also work for the company that houses the tax office so employees get a nice discount.

I always give them the totals for our receipts and various write-offs but I also include those things in the info I give them in case they have questions.

Following closely as we are shopping...

Paid I think $750 last year, that included a pre tax meeting, my taxes from full time employment, Schedule F for the farm, and Schedule C for my self employed husband.

i don’t have an issue with that, but we really don’t feel the current guy is worth it - he’s nearing retirement and gave us some pretty terrible advice when my husband decided to go full time self employed last year.

We pay $250 but there is an extra charge for extra forms and if you have extra W-2's or 1099 forms.

Ours had been right under $500 for 1040 long form and itemized, plus Schedule E and F. Went to just over $500 last year with the new trust stuff added in.

$150.

I have my W9 from my job then my horses and cattle stuff.

My parents pay quite a bit more but theirs is more intensive. I cuss every year when I have to pay it but I don't want to do them myself and I like knowing a professional has looked them over.

$50 is all I pay, but mine's fairly basic. $80 if I have to add in barrel winnings, but I've only had to report those once since everyone around here pays cash out. My parents have a lot of stuff and he only charges $100 for theirs.

I charge less if the client brings their income and expenses in already categorized and added.   Some bring in bags of receipts or a whole year of bank statements; it takes time to go thru everything and I charge for that.   (My fees also depend on what type of entity I'm filing.)

I use a CPA and she charges $300-600 depending on how many extra forms there may be. I'm a small business owner so there's some extra forms including the schedule C. I do take all the 1099's to her and I also fill out the business expenses and mileage before hand and just give her the totals. I have all the receipts separate but they are available if she needs them. I'm sure she would charge more if I didn't do all that.

$350 Farm and personal income.  I have everything consolidated into a spreadsheet. All they have to do is plug in the numbers. I sometimes think they are charging too much. But then I pay the bill for my employers taxes and I'm blown away by how much his tax accountants cost.

I use the same account my husband’s family has used since the 1930’s. (This one’s father and grandfather). I don’t think he even takes any more clients because he does some hugh businesses in this area and audits them year round. It seems to me there is a lot to my income tax and he charges $200 but I usually get back anywhere from $3500 to $5500. Who’s complaining?

I own my own business and I very gladly pay my accountant over $1,000. For the amount of money she saves me, she's worth every penny.

Holy cow ya'll are making me feel really great about what we pay. I imagine ours will go up this year, as it should bc we will have a few extra forms than years prior. But geez. I'd croak if I got a bill for $500 plus.

$600 plus when we had the ranching/horses/trucking on it and they did payroll for an occasional driver. Sold the truck and drive/use our trailers for a friend so hoping that cuts down on some expense. That was with me doing all the receipts and pretty much having it all set for her to enter into the computer. Now it will just be ranching/horses.

I finished one today for sole proprietor that owns a restaurant.  Had to go thru 2 different bank accounts for entire year.   $815

I've done others for sole proprietor that brought their stuff in organized and totalled--cost $235.  It all depends on the amount of time it takes me and what all I have to wade thru.   (Yep, plastic bags full of cash receipts that include all their grocery and Wal-Mart purchases. . . No matter how many years we discuss what they can't deduct, they still put them in there.)
