Location: Missouri | Insulated pants specifically.....what are your favs to ride in. State line tack carries a couple options but all are in the price range of around $120 and I've having sticker shock. For those of you do who continue to ride most of the winter, and have insulated pants, what are your favs? My mare got her 'winter break'for 6 weeks in Aug/Sept so I have no intention of stopping this winter if I can manage to stay warm. |

Location: Kansas | I have two pairs of jeans I call my winter jeans lol, they are 2 sizes bigger because I wear fleece lined leggings under them. I always sweat after pulling them off, so they've worked for me. Also wear a pair of cowhide chinks, and wool socks. I always double up on layers so normally a thermal long sleeved shirt, hoodie, and jacket, stocking cap, and fleece lined gloves when I ride. |

I usually wear multiple layers also, but last winter having on leggings, then jeans, and then sometimes even cover alls just to get a ride in drove me absolutely bananas. I have been eyeballing insulated pants on State Line for a while, but scared to spend that much in case they're not all they're cracked up to be. |

Location: Kansas | Flannel lined jeans, wool socks (duckworth brand not cheap but they work they also have undies), chaplettes for covering my boots, layers on the top with t-shirt, long sleeve runner type shirt, sweatshirt, neck gator and depending on the temp lite, mid or heavy weight jacket. Head cover is a wool cap (with ear flaps if blowing). |

Yeah I can't help you on that, cause I'm a cheapo and probably wouldn't buy them if they were over $20 lol |

| If I’m out in the wind, Carharts. Usually all I do outside is walking and trotting to keep them moving so I don’t require a ton of dexterity. I also prefer my saddles with a little moving room so I fit fine still with more clothes on. if I haul to an indoor where I am out of the wind, I can usually get by with long Johns under my jeans, wool socks and several layers to take off up top as I warm up. |

Location: Slipping down the slope of old age. Boo hoo. | I have a couple pair of Kerrits polar-fleece lined riding tights and they are fabulous;however, they are expensive. Last year I found fleece-lined tights at Walmart for ~$15 and bought a couple of pair. They have held up great to many washings/dryings and are just as warm as the Kerrits. |

Location: CTX | I have several pairs of flannel lined jeans from www.sierra.com Right now they have some for around $25. But if you sign up to their mailing list you can get even better deals.
Other than that, layers.... under armour shirts, flannel shirts, wind/ waterproof jacket, wool socks and a beanie. and when it gets really bad I use wool tights and my coveralls, with a heavy carhartt jacket. now if only I could figure out how to keep my hands and feet from freezing.... ???? |

| I just wear fleece lined tights under my jeans and it keeps me warm. Always use those stick on toe warmers and hand warmers. I have tried the body warmers, I stick one on my back and I'm toasty warm. I want to try one of those heated jackets from Home Depot, but just don't want to spend the money. |

Location: Montgomery TX | My husband and I both have the heated jackets and love them. Easy enough to turn off when I get warm and don't need the warmer on anymore. I wear fleece lined tights under my jeans and usually that keeps me warm enough. Here, we do not get near as cold as other parts of the country. My husband also has heated insoles for his hunting boots and waders and absolutely loves them! |

Location: Illinois | The Back on Track long underwear are really good & warm. So are the Under Armour hunting long underwear. I have bottoms & tops for both & stay warm, but not too warm when riding or being active in the barn. Still have full rangle of motion & not having a bulky coat or bibs is always a plus. |

Kay - I've been toying with buying a pair from Bunkhouse Western to wear to races this winter. www.thewarmingstore.com this is where we got our stuff, we personally bought the milwaukee brand - it had the best reviews at the time we purchased. We are very happy with them. They also have warming tights too.
