Location: So. Cali. | My amazing mare had Epiploic Foramen Entrapment surgery on August 7th. She had developed a hernia which they removed as well as approx. 10' of damaged small intestine. She recovered from surgery wonderfully and was able to come home at the minimum 10 day hold. On September 21st I had to rush her back to the hospital due to colic symptoms where I was informed she had an impaction in her small intestine. We tried to get her to pass it with the assistance of fluids as I did not think she could do another surgery so soon. Unfortunately I had to make the decision to let her be free of pain. On Saturday October 12th her three year old daughter went off her feed. I didn’t think much of it as she does it on occasion with her teeth changing and figured I'd just find a molar in her feeder in a day or two. Monday morning I checked her temp and it was 103.9. Without writing a novel, after 3 visits from a local vet who I feel was not taking her condition seriously I finally rushed her to the hospital on Friday the 18th. She is currently fighting an episode of colitis with an unknown underlining issue. Blood work & fecal samples are not giving us any answers. She has now gone 24 hours without a fever, but is not yet able to come off the fluids. Please keep her in your thoughts as I do not know if I could stand to lose her so soon after her mother. |

Location: So. Cali. | Knew the strength of BHW prayers wouldn't disappoint. Been a few slow improvement days, but as of today, after 1 week in the hospital, she is finally off fluids, hasn't had a fever flare up in almost 2 days now. Still on antibiotics. Growing a better appetite as well. All wonderful news. They believe she should be able to come home mid next week. All tests they ran came up with no results as to what all caused this.
