| Awww you're so blessed. I cant get my kids to stick with it! I'd love it if my daughter would want to ride... heck shes had 3 more horses than I have... she starts to want to do it, then decides it's not for her. Bums me out! We bought her a super nice breakaway horse to learn on and she did it for about a month... now I'm stuck ponying him 3 to 4 times a week to try to keep him fit. Jacob rides him very occasionally. I dont know what's wrong with these kids! Hes the best babysitter and anyone could rope off him. I play on him once in a while with breakaway but my heart is set on barrels. |

You're too nice lol. My parents told me once I started I had to seriously stick to it or they'd sell the horse and I couldn't get another until I could pay for it & all the costs to keep. I spent every day living & breathing horses after that lol. But for OP, we have a couple families that run our NBHA district that have shared for years. Mom runs open and the kids run youth/peewee. One of them loves it because the horse gets exercised by the kids at home while she rides the younger horses/prospects right now. Then she just gets the fun of running it. Seems to have worked for most of them for a couple years now, might try that with yours. You might be able to share for awhile |

| She wouldn't care if we sold him lol! We sold her 5 yr old she was given as a yearling because lack of consistency and I didnt really like him that much for me. I adore this little paint horse tho so he wont be going anywhere. I did put my foot down with her though... so as they are homeschooling, shes going to ride him DAILY to help keep him in shape. Dont care if she doesnt rope or do barrels but she will exercise him. I dont particularly enjoy ponying him but theres just days I dont have time to get it all done. I got flamed by family for not forcing her to stick with it but when I see her trying to rope on him and she hates it it doesnt do any good for the horse, it's not fair to him either :-( so I pulled the plug on it. Hes way too nice to be half butted on in the roping pen. She agreed she would keep him legged up, so I'm good with that for now |

She decided to go ride dirt bikes instead after her dad bought her a brand new one for her birthday... (face palm) oh well... she needs to be happy and have passion in whatever she chooses but darn it, she will help keep ol chuy legged up lol! |

Location: LaBelle, Florida | Mine started out on horses but really not interested. Has a great natural balance on them, just not interested. She is 15 now and feeds them up and puts them out for me in the evenings because I get home so late from work. But that is it. I was hoping she would become interested with them when she started helping me...but I guess not. If she did, I would give up my horse easily for her. |

 Am I really the Weirdo?
Location: Kansas | My husband and I may end up fighting over whose horse our son takes over first! Matt's got an 18 year old gelding who's just itching to slow down and be a pee wee/youth horse full-time, and my gray is 17 with about 10 years of rodeo experience so he'll likely need to start slowing down in the next couple years. Our son will be 3 months old tomorrow so we've got a little bit of time, but I'm also trying to steal Matt's yellow mare for rodeos, so he's trying to get the 5 year old TB closer to finished & seasoned so he has at least 2 to run in the future.

| I just got a new horse for myself 2 weeks ago and Ive not thrown a leg over it yet!! My 10yo daughter has already taken her over. I didn't even get a chance. Lucky kid and likely a luckier horse. Shes a solid rider and puts her heart in it. Whats the saying that every horse deserves to be loved by a little girl? |
