Do you use any sort of vitamin/mineral supplement or ration balancer with it? If so, what? 

Yes, I feed a mineral called Horse Glow (I think that is the name).

I feed Omega Horseshine with mine. I started it after reading it can help with hoof growth. We bought a mare that wasnt growing much foot. It has helped her. Oh and Vitamin E because we have little grass and the vet suggested it. 
Right now my girls get:
8# hayrite cubes split into AM and PM
1/2# Renew Gold PM with 1/2 cup Omega Horseshine and Vitamin E.

They look amazing! I also leave hay out 24/7 for them. 

 Win told me that if I had good quality hay ( Which I do in SOuthern CA) then I would NOT need any additional vit/Min. Having said that I have always always always fed formula 707 daily essentials. One little alfalfa based scoop , inexpensive, proven track record, and I know they are getting everything they need for the day in 1 scoop. So I add that to the RG. 

Daily Essentials is awesome, their whole line is excellent! Plus Chewy.com carrys it so I just add it to my autoship with my dog, cat and parakeet garbage! 

I feed a 16 oz sour cream container of Renew Gold, 1 oz of Purina Free Balance 12:12, and 2 oz Forco.    Except for my weanlings I don't do the forco.  I have good quality grass/alfalfa mix hay.  My horses look significantly better than most I'm around.

I am often asked what the best return for your feed dollar is. My answer is always the same, Better Hay. That is not always possible, and if your hay quality is questionable I think FORCO is a good addition to a Renew Gold program. There is a very good PreBiotic in Renew Gold, but with very tough hay, FORCO can help with complete hind gut function. Beyond that, most of our customers do not add additional vitamin, mineral or pre/pro biotic support. Another exception to this is if your hay comes from an area with a specific mineral defficency that needs to be addressed. Typically, this would be those areas defficent in selenium. Since there are areas where additional selenium is a bad idea, this can't be addressed in a feed that is available in every state like Renew Gold. Fortunatly, those specific areas, like the Pacific Northwest, have selenium supplements available and horse owners are aware of the issue. Extra vitamin support is just not necessary with quality hay and Renew Gold as the foundation of the diet. There is generally no harm in adding a vit/min package as any excess is simply excreeted by the horse, and doing so makes some people feel better. If you think you will sleep better at night by doing so, that is fine. The blood work from our basic diets speak for themselves though, and shows that further supplementation for a basically healthy horse is just not necessary.  Put the money you would put into additional supplementation into better hay. 

I feed a probiotic with it and since only one of my horses gets the recommended amount of renew gold they all have Redmond rocks hanging on the fence.

I feed Redmond salt myself. Sorry, I just assumed everyone knows to have salt available no matter what you feed. I like Redmond because I think horses under stress eat it better than commercial white salt blocks or the trace mineral salt blocks (those are a rip off).

That makes me feel better. I board, so have no control over the hay but it is brought in from different areas and is of ok quality (it varies). But my horses look good so I feel relieved.

All mine get Forco on top of the RG, and cubeits cubes. They are on a small pasture all day except for feeding time and have coastal round bales to keep them busy. Our pregnant thoroubred mare is the only one that gets 4 oz rice bran per day with that but that's because she started to show a bit of rib... and I don't like to see ribs....

And all of them have a hymalian salt lick available at all times.

How much hay are you feeding?  Free choice?

It is important that horses have some roughage in front of them all the time, if possible. Slow feeders like the Portagrazer and hay nets really help keep both a mat of material and saliva in the stomach. Wild horses evolved this way, and it is important to keep domestic horses functioning as naturally as possible.

I have had the same concern regarding supplements with renew gold. Love feeding it and do have good quality hay and pasture but began having hoof problems with my horses. Started feeding nutrena senior with renew gold and hoof growth and condition has improved. I had been feeding a hoof supplement for 1 1/2 yrs but did not see any benefit from it.

Most hoof supplements provide questionable support. Almost all are biotin supplements since you simply can't sell a product for hoof support if it does not have biotin in it. In reality, a horse with a fully functional hind gut will produce all the biotin that it can use by itself. In that case, adding more will not have any effect. The issue here is if the hind gut is functional. If you feed high grain based concentrate inclusions it will not be. Even then without quality protein and abundant lysine, methionine and zinc you will be unlikely to see any advantage from adding biotin for hoof growth. If hoof condition improved by adding senior feed, I would guess that the base roughage source could have been a little better, and overall protein was low. Typically with high quality hay we see great hoof condition with only Renew Gold added to the diet. Other environmental conditions can effect hoof condition also, and as I always say, all horses are different.

In general, we do not see a conflict with adding supplements to a Renew Gold diet. If you do feel the need, try reducing any supplements by about 1/3. Nutrient uptake in the system is significantly improved with a Renew Gold diet, so what you do add will be better absorbed. That does not mean that additional supplements are a value. That depends on what they are made of, and if your horse really needs them for proper body function. The vast majority do not. As I always say, save that money and buy better hay if you can.

Just was wondering, I feed Renew Gold with mostly alfalfa hay and a little grass, do I need to feed some thing to prevent ulcers, such as Purina Outlast Gastric support or does the Renew Gold cover that?

I’ve used the Purinas  Outlast and horse still got ulcers.  You have to feed it three times a day for it to work.  I would use something like Zesterra for a preventative.  

So I have a question. Are you adding Renew Gold to grain or is this fed by its self with no grain? For example I just bought a weanling and plan on feeding her Tribute Growth. ( She will be on grass hay and pasture) is Renew Gold something I would add to her grain, or is this something that I can get rid of grain completely and just feed her the recommended amount it says too? I think the answer is that it's an additive to grain, but I just want the correct answer???

RG By itself. Its main purpose is to eliminate the concentrates from thr diet. It makes the hind gut function as it should and thus, you don;t need grain based diets. Hope this helps! RG and the best forage you can find!
