Today is
I've got a mare recently lasered for flapper issue. Been off for 7 months. Currently getting back in shape. I have a flexineb, giving Albuterol mix prescribed by my vet along with lasixs, for race. And yes she had a bal done before flapper issue. She is a bleeder. I am looking into just helping her lungs out daily. Not anything for pre race or runs. I keep coming back to these 2 companies. They have tons and tons of reviews. But if it came down to it what would you go with between the 2.
Please don't tell me about what you do for race days. I've got that way over covered. I am looking at daily. Between these 2 companies. Not looking to replace my lasixs or nebulizer. But I also don't want to just waste money either. The market is jam packed with tons of stuff. I am simply trying to filter it down.
I have only used 2 of the Silver lining products...but I have been very pleased with the results. We had a gelding whack his leg goofing in the pasture and damaged the extensor tendon. Also dinged the underlying bone. Months of rest and care and he could be turned out but was still off at the trot and radiographs showed a bit of overgrowth of bone there at the injury site. Vet said it would just be that way and give bute or equioxx to use him. Started him on the #12 feet & bone support and the #37 kidney support as the combo the company suggested along with Apple Cider Vinegar daily. Figured nothing to lose but cash. After several weeks he had greatly improved soundness and the visible bump had reduced. We need to repeat radiographs...but he is sound to ride and that is good enough proof for me.
I use the No Lasix by Silver lining herbs on a bleeder I have and I've been able to take her completely off lasix now. But she also was never a terrible bleeder. I use several Silver Lining Herbs products and always pleased with the results!
Can i ask about the laser you did for her flapper? I have a horse that one side is paralyzed of his flapper. Was the surgery successful
Bump
I had it lasered at brazos in Stephenville. It wasn't a traditional surgery. He went in and cut away the scar tissue that had built up around the flapper for various reasons. Took about 6 months before I felt comfortable riding her. I know there is several different options for laser. But she isn't a roarer and had a ton of improvement from 6 weeks nebulizer treatments. And I had a bal done at the same time. The laser was just to make sure the airway wouldn't go back.
They are both a great product
For daily use OxyGen has two products that were developed specifically for respiratory issues - Oxy 2X ProB which is a daily pellet. And OxyPulmon which is a liquid that can be used daily, pre-race, x number of days leading up to a race, etc. Would love to help!
