If you've had a horse diagnosed with Lyme disease, what symptoms did they have? Were they able to make a full recovery? If so, did you do anything beyond antibiotics to treat it?

Having my horse tested next week and I'm nervous so I'm researching.

I had a gelding get it twice in his lifetime. Horses normally make a full recovery and from each vet I spoke with it doesn't cause life long problems like it can dogs or people.  My gelding just seemed stiff, lethargic and had some muscle atrophy started in his hips and topline.  He he was not sore in one particular spot, just seemed all over. 30 days on doxycycline then a retest for lyme again.

In very very rare cases it can go neurological because the bacteria attacks the central nervous system.  If that's the case I've heard the out come is not good... But like I said that is extremely rare.

The biggest thing I recommend is getting your horse retested after treatment to make sure it's cleared up and there is no chance of relapse.  Do the actual blood test they send in. I know its more expensive but the snap test they do in office is useless and just a screening tool. I hope everything goes ok! I edited to fix my werid spelling my phone does on this site.
