| Has anyone used the cubes in the mangers instead of hay bags when hauling? I was debating trying this to prevent hay bags being smashed in their faces. Would this make sense ? Thanks. |

Agree. Feeding cubes while traveling not a good idea. Free-choice hay is best option. |

| OK thanks, I'm new to adding cubes to the diet...I guess hay bags is best then. Whenever I place hay in the mangers both my horses seem to get it tossed out onto the floor :( |

| I dont know if theyd be able to be secured on or in the manger but what about those flat hay pillows ... I know what you mean though about the hay nets in the mangers .. they seem a bit in the way right there |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | When I would haul and used a hay bag I would tie it at the top {of course} and run the tie string threw the bottom of the hay bag and tie it off so it didnt flop around and it stayed pretty much in one spot without moving around, I also have mangers and my hay bags never came loose. My hay bags never smashed/floped around tieing the top and bottom off. |

| I know, they are expensive. I've seen the hay pillows before that people use in the pasture or stalls.. I always thought to myself how my horse would get his shoe somehow caught up in it and freak out and run himself thru a fence of something like that! But I suppose a barefoot horse would be just fine. I wish those manger pillows werent so much cause I'd totally try it. |

I have these and love them -- less waste and the bag is not right smack dab in the horses' faces. Great for trailer mangers! |

| I was wondering the same, do they ever come down to like a Haychix haynet price? LOL, looking for something to use this summer, but at $70/bag in a 4 horse trailer is too much for me |

Location: The Great Northwest | Okay, I secure my hay bag on the bottom of the manger. I have eye-screws in each corner with a double snap. The hay bags I use have 1 1/2" holes my two are aggressive eaters. There is no waste on to the floor. I had a hard time tieing the bags up there and felt bad about them possibly irritating them in their face. It works great! |

| I feed cubeit hay cubes ( they have no betonite in them) I feed them in the trailer. I prefer them over hay as I have had respiratory issues from feeding hay in the trailer. Idealy I try not to feed in the trailer but sometimes its unavoidable. You can soak the hay cubes but I think as long as you have high quality hay cubes you shouldn't have issues. I feed hay cubes all the time, except when I am home in the summer (Idaho) then they get a mixture of regular hay and cubes, but in the winter ( in Arizona) and while traveling they get 10 lbs of cubeit hay cubes 2x a day. All the horses look great and they usually gain weight on the cubes even though they are getting fewer lbs than they would regular hay. Plus I don't have to deal with the dust! I used to soak hay in water and that is a total pain in the arse! Hope that helps. I know that the less betonite usually means higher quality hay and the cubes aren't as hard. Mine are really easy to break up. I think with hay cubes its really easy to mix high quality hay and low quality hay together and the buyer can't tell the difference. If you can get the cubeits they are awesome quality! I have been to the factory and they use top quality horse hay. But the guy did tell me if I get in a bind and have to buy another brand just try to go with little to no betonite. |

| Cubelt alfalfa cubes are great! And affordable too. When I feed alfalfa that's what I use. I cant find good alfalfa hay around here so I use cubelt. I never had to soak those even my choke horse didnt have an issue eating them. A lot of people like hayrite and I tried but they just seemed way to hard, I felt bad feeding them because of that. The cubeits I can break up in 1 hand. |

I'm guessing possible choke hazard .... I don't think I'd have an issue using the cubeits in my mangers they definitely keep my horses busy. I've poured their grain in them before on long trips and didnt have an issue. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Cubes are really dry, I want my horses to have access to water when I feed them any type of cubes. Soaked cubes is ok since they will have plenty of moisture.. But feeding dry cubes can be a risk.. |
