My gelidng will stop eating his grain while we are on the road for a few days. He drinks plenty of water and eats hay. But, just picks at his grain. What tips on getting them to eat while traveling.

If hes still eating his hay and drinking I would not worry about it, just keep offering his grain anyways.

Much of the time, when they go off grain, it is stomach/ulcers issues.  I would be giving some kind of ulcer preventative or supplement to soothe the gut.

Ditto last 2 posts.

I worry if they aren't drinking water or eating their hay (Alfalfa). I have a very picky gelding that doesn't get a bunch of grain ( he has ulcers) and he wouldn't eat it. I started giving him Ulcerguard before he gets on the trailer, and he is good as new.

100

Invest in some CEP Gut Check or Zesterra. Don't be afraid to overload them with it. I give 10cc a day a couple days prior to leaving, then 10cc am and pm if they're stalled/10cc prehaul, 10cc pre run. That certainly helps keep them drinking and eating away from home!
