- Feed soaked in Guinness for one meal per day, added the OneAC supplement, added Electrolast to her feed, kept her up during the day under a fan, made sure she had access to salt and minerals throughout the day, and cold hosed as needed. We also did 10 days of Dex to help with some major itchiness on her neck/chest/face. I added Equiwinner Patches, and was able to take the Guiness off her feed after two weeks.
Now, she is sweating much much better, BUT she is still panting/heaving if it gets warmer than 87 degrees and VERY itchy on her chest. Per the vet, she's back on a low dose of Dex, and we just started Zyrtec. You can see when her chest is hosed down that the skin looks bitten or scarred. Its a bunch of white dots, but no raised bumps or anything.
Has anyone had these symptoms continue even when the horse starts sweating again? Is this a food/grass/hay allergy that I should be looking for, or reaction to bug bites? I'm at a loss. We are going to see a different vet on Tuesday, but I'm just looking for simlar experiences.
ETA: Prior to all this, she was getting a half pound of Renew Gold and a cup of Purina Outlast twice a day.
