What is the consensus on this? Have you sold a horse, then the new owners consign with a broker and the broker utilize your previous (and outdated) videos / pics?

I haven't sold a horse doing this (I buy and don't really sell. Sorry husband), but if they're older than 2 years, I don't think I'd want to see them.

If they're less than 2 years old, I'd ask the previous owners if I could use them to advertise.

A friend had me take sale pictures of one of her horses. She paid for them. A lady bought the horse and took my logo off the pictures and put them on several sites. I wasn't too happy about it so I think if I had paid for a video of my horse running barrels which I often do, I would be a little perturbed about it.

I agree. I think it's the responsibility of the seller to ask- but using them without permission is shady.

Well I guess its better than some stranger selling some strange horse and using videos of your horse... LOL... but yea, seriously its happened.

It would certainly be nice if they asked permission.

This should not happen without permission.

I had a woman do this to me and she added all kinds of things about the horse that wasn't true.  A friend of mine seen the post and called and told me about it.  I called the woman about it and she blocked me from seeing anything else.  Luckily a friend of mine and stepped in and bought the horse from her and then sold him back to me.  At the time I sold him I was going through a divorce and had no choice, but he is home and that is where he will stay, but it did embarrass me because people recognized me on the horse and was wondering why she was lying about the performance record of the horse and what D he ran in.  I think it is extremely unethical to use someone else's pictures and videos.

I had a nice little mare that ran 2D/3D locally- was coming on well. My daughter ran her.  Sold her to a girl who blew her up and pretty much fried her brain. She traded her to a man, using my old videos.   He tracked me down and I told him what had happened.  Saw her on an auction site being represented as a 1D/2D horse several states away using my videos that were 2 years old.   Not an accurate representation, and she was probably going to get someone hurt  :(  I contacted the auction site and told them I wanted those videos down, they didnt have permission.   They were screen recordings of old FB videos.   They didnt take them down though.
