Does anyone know how to do geneoligy search?im horrible with computers and don't know where to start I'm writing a story on my Dad he made statues like Paul Bunyan,Bobs Big Boy,Ford Mustang horse ands I need to know about his past but when I put in his name there's nothing but blank spots for me to fill in.

His names William Alvin Swan 8-4-1917 he was born in Grangeville Idaho to Julia Chamberlin Swan and William swan and I know he had two brothers Marvin Alvin Swan and Orville Bill Swan born in 1912 he had a sistHeida Leonora .

shouldnt this information just come up ?its asking me to put it in .

Ancestry.com is the easiest to use, IMO.  You'll get hints in the form of a leaf that shows up in the right hand corner. There's LOTS of info on there.

Yes absolutely amazing I had no idea that information was even kept like this so it's obviously kept on each and every person this is first time I seen his bloodlines I'm in hopes to find information on him also to write a story on him.

I did the DNA with Ancestry.com.  My entire life I had been told my mother's side of the family had Cherokee.  Well, my test revealed absolutely zero Native American. I'm mostly English/Irish/Scottish along with Swedish and Norweigen.  It's been lots of fun following the DNA connections and building a family tree. Very interesting. Well worth the cost of the DNA test.  I think they are having a $59 special now.
