Location: Oklahoma | I been looking at sale ads and I noticed that there is some that says outran so and so on this day.... I wonder how so and so feels if they was to see that. Which should be a compliment but what if so and so just had a bad day... Now if you said outran so and so every time...lol still how would so and so take that! lolol I've seen it on alot of sales ads and I get why they do it as a sales pitch but I wouldn't do it thats just me. Course I'm not in the business of selling horses! So I probably shouldn't say anything! Now if person looking asked the sales person bout arenas and times and then you tell them that day horse outran so and so and ran this time bc you telling it to indivual bout the horse than broadcasting that you beat someone. To me I dont care who horse outruns I would go by the time in that arena reason being there is an arena that holds weekly jackpots. 15.7 or 15.8 is super! but sometimes a 16.0, or .01 or .2 might win it. basically the same people goes every week so you would get an idea where the horse was clocking if they was going to weekly jackpot or you know that arena. Im a little bored today! lol |

Location: Illinois | I agree with you. Horses and jockeys have good and bad days. Just because you outran say "sister" one day, doesn't mean you have the superior horse. I would much prefer to say 1D or whatever, against tough competition, stats available upon request. And show the records of the placings at events if a buyer inquires. Let the buyer form their own opinion on that. Because if I'm about to drop a large amount on a horse that you said outran say Hailey and "sister" at a jackpot, you can bet I want to see the placings myself. And I'm going to try my hardest to find a video of "sister" on that run and see if she was on her A game that day or if she blew really wide on the 1st like she sometimes does or made costly mistakes. And if you only beat her by the hair on your head against her on he rbad day, I'm not going to be impressed. If whoever youre saying you outran had a smokin run and you still outran them, ok thats better. You've intrigued me then. But generally, leave so and so out of your ad, and provide stats if asked. Advertising it outran whoever isn't going to make me more interested in trying it out or buying personally |

Location: Not Where I Want to Be | I'd bet any amount of money that Sister or her jockey don't give two thoughts to what anyone says about them. Lions do not concern themselves with the opinion of lambs |

Location: South Georgia | I'm definitely not going to ever be mentioned in ads, because everyone will outrun me, but.... I wouldn't like it. I don't feel it appropriate as a seller to throw others under any bus, at all, in any way. |

Location: Missouri | Well no one would ever say they outran me as a selling point bc me and my horse are pretty average, but.. As a seller, also, I wouldn't look at that and go "ohhhhhh." Nah, provide videos showing what the horse typically runs in certain arenas and then I will hunt down results to figure out what typically wins it in that arena at smaller or larger jackpors. |
