My 4 year old has become a real Hussy.  Sorry if I offend someone by typing this.  Not sure how else to explain her.  She will be standing in the alley way of the barn and if a gelding is in a nearby stall she is leaning against the wall, going to the bathroom.  She has generally fine when under saddle.  Its just when she is tied or loose.  Spoke with the vet about potentially having a marble inplanted and she advised me against doing.  She suggested Regumate.  However, others have told me that it doesn't help or can make cycles worse.

Any suggestions on what I can try so I can bring my girl out in public.

I don't have a mare but I have a few friends that swear by CEP No Drama for their mare issues... it comes in a pellet and a paste for occasional use if you don't want to feed it daily. Might be worth looking into. I've been really impressed with their products, everything I've tried so far.

I have my mare on a monthly injection that is like an equivalent of Depo in humans.  Once a month.  Regulates her cycle, as she was really bad.  Now she stays normal on no longer interested in any man that may walk by.

Yep!!! Regumate ( Altrenogest). No supplement will ever help enough. My ware was in horrible pain from cycling, SHe has been on it for 3 years now and perfect. None of those herbal, natural things will work. Period.

Regumate. I've never seen it not help or make cycles worse.

Thanks all for the info!  Is it true that in giving a mare regumate on a consistent basis could prevent her from later getting bred?  Heard this and this is why I have shied away from starting her on it.

I have been giving my mare Easy Rider by Finish Line. She also gets the Medroxyprogesterone shot once a month. I first started her out on the Thai Cal by Finish Line which is a wonderful supplement as well. I can tell a huge difference with the shot. She literally acts like a different horse!

Must be something in the air cause I have a mare who is out of her mind right now. Tried the depo shot, only lasted 2 weeks. My big bottle of Regumate just arrived today. Hoping it gives her some relief.
