If planning to futurity, which of the following incentives would you pay your colt up in? These are the only incentives (at this time) my colts are eligible for.

1. Future Fortunes

2. Ruby Buckle

3. Breeders Challenge

4. Select Stallions

5. PESI

Which futurities would you plan to attend?

Remember that your horse must be elgible for the incentives. Pink and Ruby buckle nominations must be paid every year. This is the first year for the Breeders Challange but I am very interested in it.  Future Fortunes adds money to several open races is inexpensive to nominate IF the breeder will nominate when they are less than a year old. Other than that you will need to choose depending on distance to the race and how your horse is doing.  Good luck, it is a tough game to play.

When looking for stallions I currently look for Pink / Ruby; Future Fortunes; and Triple Crown 100 at a minimum.  I am NOT a fan of paying in yearly on the Pink / Ruby incentives, but we suck it up if we want to play.  I do, however, make sure I enroll all of my babies in Future Forutnes and Triple Crown 100 at a minimum.  I have also enrolled some this year in The Breeders Challenge, even with it being new.  I am going to see where it goes.

I do not futurity, but I try to put my babies in performance homes and I want those buyers to look at my babies since they are already enrolled in the incentives.  I also enroll older horses, if eligible, because it never hurts to have that incentive money available to you.  Helps me pick and choose where to go.

My ASOF mare when I purchased her was only paid into Future Fortunes; I  have since paid her into whatever I could and those incentive checks are handy.  She is now paid into Future Fortunes; BRIF; Ruby Buckle; Select Stallion Stakes; Triple Crown 100; CCSI; and The Breeders Challenge.

Again, I cringe when I pay up yearly tees. I am more of a 1 time type of girl.  I support the stallion owners that pay their stallions in and I try to hit the shows that offer the incentive monies. Those incentive checks are nice!

Now with the choices you gave for your colt - depending on location I pick 1 through 4.  Just me.

If you are planning on attending the futurities, I would pay them all. Remember, you have to attend some of theses futurities to win any money so if they are out of your traveling radius, you might pass on those. Future Fortunes and a few others have nice side pots that you have to enter but don't have an a fee and pay for the different divisions. I have three that are only eligible for TQHA but it doesn't have a nomination fee and it is close

Took me awhile to find this and I thought I was correct. Whoever rides the horse in the PESI Fururity has to be a WPRA member.  So either you will have to join WPRA or find a member to ride the horse for you.

Future Fortunes is the most cost effective if put into it early---after being put in there are no more entry fees and FF is now putting a lot of money into some big open barrel races to think about after your futurity year.

True but if you're only interested in PESI you can buy a Futurity permit, much less expensive than a regular card.

Any of them that they are eligible for. As a stallion owner it makes me sad to pay my stallion into incentives and the breeders don't pay in the foals and then complain later when they aren't eligible for the extra money

Of the 5 you posted, my absolutes would be : Ruby Buckle, Breeders Challenge, and Future Fortunes. If you have more to spend I would do the other two, but I have multiple I enroll every year and it gets expensive fast. But the only one thats recurring in your list is Ruby Buckle, so if you can budget it out I would do the other two.
