I just saw that she is having a clinic, end of October in Seguin, TX. Not far from me at all. I'm seriously contemplating on attending this one! Anyone have any experience with attending one of her clinics? Good bad ?? I enjoyed the heck out of that Josey clinic I went to. I'm actually going to another in September with my daughter this time.  But really want to go see what I can learn from CC ...

I have no knowledge....but....you can never learn to much and everyone can teach you something new.  You may not use the information on the horse you are currently riding but you may have another that it works to help.  Go enjoy!!  (Oh and report back so the rest of us know whay you thought) :-)

I cannot say enough about the Clinics Connie Combs puts on. They are worth their weight in gold. My 14 year old daughter has done two of them so far.  We will do one every time she is in town. I highly recommend! We saw immediate improvement... with her and her horse.

I have attended 2 of her clinics here in Florida.  I'm an older non competive rider.  I went to just have fun and really enjoyed it.  Very nice lady, but will get after it when needed.  She is a great teacher and is able to pinpoint issues to help riders get better.  She works well with the kids as well as the adults.

If you have the chance to attend her clinic, do it.

I've gone to 2 if Connie's clinics and I would do another one any time. She's a good teacher and her brand of tough love suits my learning style.

Why? Never been but I have always heard good things about her and her clinics. I know that she can hurt some feelings at times, but she gets her points across.

Connie was glued to her phone for pretty much most of the 2 day clinic. My husband at the time came both days to video  and when it was your turn to do the exercise she would be saying looks great, nice job but she was not even looking at you and your horse, she was staring at her phone. It wasn't just me, it was with many others.

Many of the drills she had us do, no one in the group understood how to properly and effectively execute them. She tried explaining in different ways what she wanted us to do, and it just didn't go well.
my trainer, who hosted Connie at her barn, was confused about some things too. My trainer has had Connie come and do clinics for 10+ years and every year things go a bit downhill.
just my opinion!

I think I remember this in another post that you had made about your experience at her clinic. Thats to bad, hope your next clinic that you choose to attend will be a whole lot better for you.

I'm still looking forward to attending,  the trainer I've been riding with has also signed up to go with me. I'm easily confused when the drills start getting excessive so we will see how this goes! Hopefully it'll be a great experience and I'm not shy about speaking up if something doesn't make sense to me. I'll ask and ask and ask until I'm sure I understand it.

Her clinics have improved a lot since the earlier days. Her drills, she and another help you thru if you mess up.

That's good news. I do know the gal I've been talking with to get signed up was VERY very nice and helpful and wanted to know a bunch about myself and my horse and where I thought I was in my abilities. Very sweet and kind person. I'm super pumped I get to go!

I just got back from her clinic. There was a huge emphasis on hands and placement and we did some drills/exercise that I think will be a great way to work on my mares weak points right now without burning her out on the barrels. I did expect there to be more correction on things outside of hands/eyes up/riding square (like where your horse is positioned around the barrel, etc.).

However, for the facility we were at I think we had to many people (we were in a very small indoor with 24 people/horses trying to cram inside it and do the drills) and there was a good bit of just sitting around and waiting your turn (more than I have experienced at clinics before). I certinaly learned some new stuff but I will say it wasn't exactly what I expected.

Just got back yesterday from the clinic and I'm so happy I went! It was amazing. I learned so much about why my horse is doing what he's doing, and why and where we lose so much time on the pattern. She helped me tremendously fix my issues.  I will say I had a brand new horse by the time Sunday afternoon rolled around. Our final run was honestly the smoothest FASTEST, run I've ever had on him. I was so excited after I came out of that pen, I wanted to cry lol! Yes there was times of waiting around and sitting twiddling thumbs but I think that will be at any clinic while they are helping someone else. Each person was individually worked with until the problem was fixed. Some took longer than others.. she even got on a few horses to show how to fix this or that. I noticed her staying late after the clinic was over for the day to continue to help a few that really needed it. She's very easy to talk to and very direct, I like that. Not a lot of nonsense. She's tough but fair. I bought a drill book from her too because I truly enjoyed her drills.. they don't involve the pattern much and that's perfect for my horse that tends to get too chargy if you do slow pattern work too much. It got us both thinking and getting our timing down. My horse was actually listening and waiting for my cues by the time we were done. It's a lot of work, lots of saddle time and she makes you earn it. Her theme of her clinic is No excuses and she sticks by that 100%. The gift bags are awesome too. They did a few drawings for prizes which was cool. I actually won a pair of PC bell boots. I never win anything lol! I was pretty stoked. All in all it was fantastic and if she runs all her clinics like that, I can't recommend her enough! She's super big on hands and balance and being correct! Straight lines and riding soft and PATIENCE.  We did so much balance work and staying centered I accidentally went 2 handed around my first barrel in my last competition run lol! Didn't even realize it until after when I saw it. But it was so smooth and quick.. my horse had so much snap and wasn't losing his hip to the outside. It felt amazing.

Man, I am so glad it was such a success for you! I wanted to audit, but a sick grandchild and his mother disappearing as usual, kept from going.  If she has another clinic close by I am definitely going to go!
