Those that have hauled horses when making a personal trip but don't do it for a living... Did you get additioal insurance? Or require any horse you pick up is insured? I may be making a trip with 3-4 stalls open and wouldn't mind taking a few horses, but I want to make sure I'm covered if anything were to happen.

If your making money to haul the horses, that makes you a commercial driver, need commercial insurance. If your truck and trailer are rated at 26K or more combined ( MOst are), then you need a commercial drivers license. To be legal. Most just chance it.

We have all that, my husband has his own authority and drives semi/lowboy and our F450 is licensed. I'm just not familiar with hauling horses and if there is specific insurance we should look into?

Sounds like your set!!! Most people are not. I would draw up a signed agreement between you and the horse owner just to be safe.
