Any ideas how to help a lazy colt move his feet with intention?  Other than kicking or smooching more.

Squeeze (dont kick), cluck/smooch, spank. If you use this method, he'll realize there are consequences for not moving. If you're consistent, he'll get it. Don't sit there and beg or nag him to move. Be as soft as possibe but as firm as necessary.

ask - tell - demand - i'm working with one now that has a forever trot! ugh!!!! I had to go buy a bat for encouragement. Consistency is key. Life got busy and he had a few weeks off and we had to start over, the lazy gene is strong in this one.  I learned don't nag and let him get away with this crap - I would be exhausted riding him - make him work, not the other way around.
