I've never ridden in one either, but a good friend of mine bought one post pregnancy (C-Section) and she said it has been a game changer. So much so, she bought a second one.

I have ridden in them for years.  Just ordered a trophy saddle with a bear trap.  With big hard turning horses, or riding colts, they really help me.

I have wanted one for a long time. But haven't seen any quality makers until now.  Horse tack world has one but it is pretty funny looking, if anyone has one maybe they will chime in

I have a masters which is made by master saddlery and I love it. It keeps me in and my mare is a big strong mare so I needed a saddle to help me stay with her. I'm 67 with bad groins and the master saddle has really helped with my riding. I'm sure the bear trap is just as nice as any of the masters saddles they make. I've heard they are nice and people who ride in them love them.

I ride a Shiloh Stevi Hillman Encourager (the swells come back) on a horse very similar to what you described. If not, I'll end up on her neck.

I've been riding in them for years and wouldn't ride in anything else. Due to old injuries/surgeries I don't have a lot of core strength and they really hold me in. Double J makes a nice one.

If I remember right I think that years ago Joyce Jackson used to ride in a bear trap and even competed at the NFR in one!
