I wasn't trying to be rude. And for that I am very sorry. Mrs. Loflin, please except my apologies. I didn't think I asked it a rude way but I guess I did. I can't defend myself here and I wont because I was wrong. I didn't realize I was being rude, and I am a fan of Loflin. I am just really sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound rude.

BaylenJaxs - 2013-12-08 11:46 PM Why isn't she pushing Movin?? She's just been loping her the last few nights. It's kinda aggravating me Dx. I know that little mare can get some! Oh and Fallon. Is she gonna hit a barrel tomorrow night?? I seriously wonder how she's made it to the NFR if she's hitting barrels like that.

It just looks like she is loping but that is really called smooth.  Smooth is always faster than it looks.

There is no doubt that this week has been a struggle for a few of us. This pen is the toughest pen you will run in all year and and for me personally I'm have a little tough time getting my timing right. On top of that we all have 500 people texting and commenting on how to ride, what we are doing wrong and how they hate what we are wearing. What you don't see is the top 15 are busy from 5am until 11 pm working, meeting with fans and special needs children, meetings and a million other things that pull us in a million different directions. We are blessed to be here but please keep in mind and respect that we all deserve to be here, worked our butts off, made sacrafices that others wouldn't have the courage to and earned our spots because we are the top 15 in the world. This is a great group of girls that represent our sport very well. So if we hit ten barrels and fall off and disappoint you a with how we ride please at least respect us enough to stay positive. We are doing the best we can.
:)

All I have to say is God Bless you!!! You are my hero in this sport. We could all use a daily dosage of your optimism and postiviity if that is even a word. Positivity. Now I've said it twice so it is officially a word. You and Movin' are a team and together you will conquer this too!!!! Pass by the naysayers, ride the horse you worked your butt of to get back here on and please keep sharing your outlook as we ALL could use it!!!

SKM - 2013-12-09 11:08 AM  I really wonder if all the people telling these ladies how they should ride have ever been on a true rodeo horse? Or how many are even old enough to be a member of the WPRA? Because if you have never competed at a large venue RODEO...should you really be giving advice on how to ride at one? Probably not.

I doubt some of them have been to a Rodeo.  Much less on a Rodeo Horse.

Ok, I haven't read all the posts on here but here's my 2 cents: These athletes (horses & riders) didn't just recieve a free pass to the  NFR. It took grit, sacrifice, & determination to get there. The OP did come off with a "I could do better" attitude. Now, I watch every run with the though of "learning". I want to see what makes a fast run, what didn't seem to work, etc. I have had the pleasure of running down that alley at the T & M. (during the Las Vgeas Heldorado in the early 90's) Let me tell you how HARD it is to have those kind of reflexes while PUSHING your horse to the WALL. The barrels are like 15' off the fence. Any horse that has any self preservation, DOES NOT have a desire to RUN to the wall.  That arena can make the most free running of horse VERY ratey. Now, I too, am the BEST athlete from my couch lol. I not only run a PERFECT barrel pattern, but I also coach ropers, steer wrestlers, and all rough stock events! AND, during Olympic years, I am an Olympic coach; everything from downhill skiing to rhythmic gymnastics lol. I'm also a TOP NOTCH spotter for many NASCAR teams. All from the comfort of my couch. I'm a pretty humble person about my skills, I don't even charge a fee for my advice

I know, I just thought maybe you didn't understand how being a smooth rider can make it look slow.  Thanks for the apology to Christy, that was nice.  When Christy slowed down it allowed her to make a better first barrel and that makes the other two barrels better...ergo a much better run.  She knows what she's doing.

I didn't think you were being rude! Some people on here look for any opportunity to start drama! I just took it that you are anxious for her to win a round and hit their groove. The Fallon comment might have been a little harsh but your right she needs to figure something out soon I would really like to see what her a baby flo can do!

Oh, HWH, my comment has nothing to do with yours, yours just happen to be what I clicked on.

It has nothing to do with respect or lack there-of. I have been around enough to have a pretty good idea of what they are up against just to get there and would never try to take that from ANYONE. And there is a witchy way and an honest straight-forward way to critique. The fact remains, every one of them will do great things and make mistakes during the week and we can learn from discussing it. Every time I or anyone else have tried in the last few years, we have been told to shut up if you don't think the Top 15 walk on water. I promise I'm cheering for all of them, even the ones I don't care for on a personal level because I do respect their accomplishments and the talent of their horses. I hate to see anyone go home without a check, but I also have my favorites. That is completely separate from picking apart a performance for the sake of education. In fact, I'm probably more apt to closely analyze a rider I admire because I want I ride like them. I've already had a lightbulb moment on hand position this week that I hope will help me hit fewer barrels on my gelding. And that came from watching the mistakes and comparing with who did it right on a horse with similar style to mine.

You are right 3 for Luck but my point was how the OP asked her question.  It was in a very rude way when she obviously didn't know what she was talking about since Christy was in no way shape or form "loping" her horse through the pattern.  As far as Fallon tipping the 3rd - ask.....how would you correct a horse that is having a problem tipping the 3rd instead of the way the OP asked it.  I study each girl on hand and leg positions, when they sit, do they kick coming out of the tunnel or do they coast since its blind etc.  I hit rewind on my DVR so much I'll run the remote batteries down but I do it to learn just like when I go to a local jackpot and watch other girls to learn from their accomplishments.

These horses and women are fantastic.. but this a place to ask questions, comments, etc. So a long as it isn't a personal attack/slander (which gets the post shut down) then there is room to question. Could it be asked in a nice manner - probably - but someone on here always seems to get their panties in a wad even if the terms are gentle.  Even a badly asked quesiton (which is how I took the start of this) can lead to reasons why people do things different ways. And that is all part of the learning experience I look for here. And I don't think you need to be an expert to post - if it is really silly or a troll - people should just ignore it.  I think this years runs have been awesome, and I know that watching it up close (which I don't get to do this year ...Sob.. )takes my breath away.   Take an example of wondering why someone doesn't go 2 handed.. there may be a reason why or it can be that they find it challenging to go 2 handed long enough (which makes me feel like I am not the only one!!).  When it comes to the NFR most of us are arm chair quarterbacks - but what is different in this sport is that alot of us don't watch barrel racing , but actually do it - so discussing it from different perspectives and sharing what we think we should do shouldn't insult anyone. I don't think it insults the NFR women running but love hearing their input - since they are the ones experiencing the runs!

Oh that made me laugh.. This post has been like a train wreck, I don't want to watch but I can't help it. Glad she apologized for her first borns sake.

I love watching the girls run, all of them. I have my less than favorites and my favorites but COMPLETELY respect each of them and what they have accomplished. I look forward to watching each and every run to see how it will play out. I follow them on facebook and twitter b/c they are doing what most of us, at some point, have dreamed of doing. Good luck to each qualifier.

I don't feel like I need to defend myself. I would just like for people to start changing their negitive minds to positive thoughts and give everyone a little inside perspective to what it's like to be under this kind of pressure. I am disappointed with how my week has gone but that does not define me as a rider. It won't be the last time I hit a barrel of almost fall off and it sure won't be the last time I win a check!:) Words are powerful and you can hurt someone or build them up and I always choose to try to be positive instead of being hurtful:)

Thank you so much for taking the time to post updates and pics!! I love scrolling FB and getting to see the behind the scenes action. That is really something for those of us who will most likely not get the chance to be there in your shoes. And I also love that you can laugh at yourself when you do make bobbles (like almost coming off and posting about it). I laughed out loud at some of your comments. It makes us realize that you're very real people that do things that all of us do at every level, and I think we all appreciate it and gives us even more cause to cheer you on. Good luck to you and all the others!!

I agree, she goes out of her way to stay optimistic, and I truly believe that pays off in the end! I have a couple friends who I keep super close, because they are that way, and it rubs off. Christy is doing amazing!!

There is a difference between critiquing how they are riding, or how their horse is running.......and downright trash talking on their runs.

We all as barrel racers, equestrians, and horse enthusiasts all have bad runs/bad days.....and we look back and say "well I could of did that better if I did this....." so forth, because that is how we LEARN from our mistakes........not allow others to broadcast it. Christy, you and moving are looking great, I'm rooting for you and Sherry the next rounds. Bring home a check!!!!!

I didn't see the OP's original post as anything constructive about christys run. Just my 2 cents.
