Sorry I don't have any advice

Location: Sunnyland Florida | I watched it a night or two ago while waiting for the NFR barrel racing to come on. This is tough to describe, but I found Rodeo Girls to be ---- probably the stupidest, most staged, most fake, worst acting of all time that I have ever witnessed. No reality about it - we all know it wasn't reality. The show did, however, get high marks on the most "insult to the discipline of barrel racing and women".

I was simply asking a question, because it seems to me that they are advertising these girls as professionals because they have a "permit" or I assume they have one.
Yes they are supposed to be rookies just starting out. Hoping to get a check at the big show. *insert corny music here*
Like a storyline. Darcy is the rich biatch with the big checkbook who buys an expensive horse and shows up in the limo to try and beat Marvel and Barb who are old hands at the game. Megan and Jessica are two young hot girls looking to win a check at the big show and at the same time drawing the cowboys eye because they are young and hot. Not old has beens like Barb and Marvel. And expecially not Darcy, who is older than dirt. (but younger than me!!).

I don't watch Jersey Shore or Housewives .... and I won't be watching Rodeo Girls anymore either.Â
The fakeness. I just can't stand it. I read through some of the replies, but not all of them, so I apologize if I repeat.
When Barb's grey horse "tangled himself" while she was bathing him, it was completely computer animated and not real.
Obviously, they only one who actually ran during the rodeo performance was Darcy. You can obviously see the stands are empty in the barrel turn shots behind all the other girls.
And the air horn? When has an air horn EVER signaled when the barrel racer was supposed to start their run?
And I'm sorry, but Darcy can't ride. At all. What little video shots they had of the barrel race, all she was doing was holding onto the saddle horn the entire ride.
And the girl that got a 23- something run "because her horse fell"? Well, number one, her horse tripped and did not fall. However, to get a 23- time the horse WOULD have had to fall to run that slow.
Most of the dialogue during show was forced and you could tell a lot of things were scripted. Especially at the end when Darcy just happened to be standing behind the girls while they were talking about her. It was obvious it was staged.
And those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head.
I will not be watching another episode because I can't stand it. You'd think A&E would pay attention a little bit closer .... like by saying they are running in the rodeo yet there is no one in the stands watching. Details, details, details.
IMO the show is embarrassing.
Â
I agree with most of what you said! Definitely a lot of it staged/scripted. Like are we really supposed to believe that with ALL of them sitting around the table (some facing Darcy's direction), that NOBODY saw her walk up right as they are talking about her? LOL. Yeah that was obviously fake.
To me I thought the gray horse getting tangled might have been real. I thought the reason they edited it in such a choppy fashion was because PETA would have an absolute field day if A&E showed the rope wrapped around the horse's leg, etc. I guess it could have been another staged thing but that was one thing I thought might have been real. |

I don't think r_beau was saying that she tangled the horse's leg on purpose, but rather that it didn't actually happen. I don't think they showed a good shot of the horse tangled up. But I agree she wouldn't hurt her horse on purpose! I was just saying I thought it really happened. |

It looked real to me but then what do I know. :)

| ksjackofalltrades - 2013-12-12 8:43 AM I liked it. I know Marvel and Ty well, and we cracked up because that is soooo Marvel and Ty.
I wish they would let Ty ad-lib, he would probably be better off. VERY scripted, but what the hell, compared to some of the other crap on TV, I was tickled to see barrel racers!
Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, and sure wasn't a documentary either. LOL |

I don't think a lot of people understand the term - reality tv - the horse did act like that, do you really think they can afford to computer animate a horse to throw a fit when they can barely leave California on their budget?

Every girl also had atleast one brand new looking heritage style tack set. Lol I guess that explains their recent blog post regarding the show.
I watched and it looked pretty scripted and ridiculous but oh well i doubt it will last very long. |

Location: CA | *smile* reading this thread is a lot like watching the show. :) We have some pros, past pros, wanna be pros, beginners, rich, poor, hands, horn jockeys, players, liers, fools, genius's the whole gambit right here. It sounds like I am judging, but I'm not. I just find it facinating. :)
BTW I had the money at one point to get my permit, I hit as many rodeos as i could. lol I had a 2d horse so I didn't have the horse for it all, but I wanted to see what it was like. I loved it. If I could ever get mounted on something that could take that kind of life, I would sooo do it. However I never saw real competitors drinking before a race. I remember seeing folks walking their horses at night to keep them from getting tied up because they were in the trailer so much, I saw barrel racers helping each other when one broke down on the road, I saw people building each other up, and I even saw some knock each other down. But all in all every one I met had a heart, they were competitive as hell, but they looked out for each other.
The way they were acting on that show was more like I remember High School Rodeo being. Actually it was just like that. Just my 2 cents worth.... carry on..... |

Personally I'll keep watching, it's staged, it's trashy, it's scripted, and they're all terrible actors BUT I have an addictive personality soooo.... |

Location: Midwest | Well this weekender thought it was super fake and scripted. But exactly what I was expecting.
What was with the sped up runs? I wish they would talk more about the horses and such. Or the girls' real accomplishments. Instead they apparently used that time for cheesy lines that seemed very forced. I mean some of that acting was just god awful from the two younger ones. I've seen better acting at a high school play.
I was was hoping this would be more documentary style and less trash tv style. Not expecting that, but hoping. Oh well. |
