That's a nice horse and she's not stupid. I'd say it was an accident and her reaction was real. I don't think r_beau was saying that she tangled the horse's leg on purpose, but rather that it didn't actually happen. I don't think they showed a good shot of the horse tangled up. But I agree she wouldn't hurt her horse on purpose! I was just saying I thought it really happened.
I surprise they even got the footage, the camera man was probably shaking in his "boots"(probably not wearing boots ) being so close to a big scary out of control horse |

*smile* reading this thread is a lot like watching the show. :) We have some pros, past pros, wanna be pros, beginners, rich, poor, hands, horn jockeys, players, liers, fools, genius's  the whole gambit right here. It sounds like I am judging, but I'm not. I just find it facinating. :)
BTW I had the money at one point to get my permit, I hit as many rodeos as i could. lol I had a 2d horse so I didn't have the horse for it all, but I wanted to see what it was like. I loved it. If I could ever get mounted on something that could take that kind of life, I would sooo do it. However I never saw real competitors drinking before a race. I remember seeing folks walking their horses at night to keep them from getting tied up because they were in the trailer so much, I saw barrel racers helping each other when one broke down on the road, I saw people building each other up, and I even saw some knock each other down. But all in all every one I met had a heart, they were competitive as hell, but they looked out for each other. Â
The way they were acting on that show was more like I remember High School Rodeo being. Actually it was just like that. Just my 2 cents worth.... carry on..... Â
I've seen girls drink before running to take the edge off. Not a lot, but like 1 beer or a shot of something. |

I've seen more than a few folks drinking at the shows.
Of course we're just 'those divisional riders'. So we may be a little more heathen like.
Personally I don't drink. Not for any other reason than it doesn't taste good! Lol. |

Some try to hide it in a coozie. Most just have it out there. I know a few guys make beer runs AT the shows! It's a social event on top of a barrel race. Especially big shows like state finals & the big NBHA shows. I don't know how people survive on 2 hours of sleep a night! Haha. But it's never a dull moment. And I don't care what they do as long as it doesn't get out of control or end up at my trailer. Most are respectful and keep it at their own trailers. |

My problem for tonight is that it is on the same time as big bang theory..... and I don't know how to record... oh the trauma!!!!Â
A&E offers most of their shows for free online. That is how I watch Duck Dynasty...I did watch Rodeo Girls today online (after duck dynasty lol. I swear I'm going to study for finals now! )
Well, it was ummm interesting. It wasn't as bad as "I" was expecting. Aside from the first 5min. they kept their cloths on and the cussing to minimum. I think I just enjoyed the horses and tack. I would even consider watching the next few episodes if they showed the girls run and not choppy clips of their runs. This is just my opinion, take it for what it's worth (nothing haha). |

Location: Oregon | Just watched it. Had to DVR it because it is on at midnight here. I will watch again but I think that they have gone for ratings pull, not a factual representation of what really happens. BUT it is TV. Would anyone really want to watch what it really takes to care and compete on a horse? I am not a pro, have never been a pro. BUT I have been around quite a few here in the NW. They were always nice/helpful as they could be. Take it for what it is, entertainment. I mean seriously, do you think all "reality" shows are actually real??? |

Location: NC | Omg!! Anthony went to Darcy to talk to her & in his "interview" says "Darcy is giving me the evil eye but I know it's not directed at me. She just has no control over her facial expressions after that much Botox".
I about died. I was crying laughing so hard.

Location: CA | So...I caught the tail end of the second episode and i saw 2 local nor cal girls in bikinis at the bikini barrel race lol. I'm assuming it was filmed at the bikini race in red bluff. I wonder if they know they are on tv in bathing suites? |

Location: Phoenix | I enjoyed the first episode! So it's a little scripted, and I REALLY wish they would have shown the whole barrel run. I think non-horsey people would have liked to see the entire objection/pattern. Otherwise....everything was portrayed pretty accurately and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I find myself rooting for Darcy, even though I initially didn't like her at first. I remember seeing her rig at a rodeo and the blintz I on her horse probably cost more than MY trailer and there was a goat with more bling than me....I was probably just jealous but I remember being like, "who the heck is this?!"
I sorta know Barb and Jessica....not on a personal level, but, like if they heard my name, they would know who I am, so I'm rooting for them. I feel like I should stick up for them. My dad rodeo'd with Brian West....I think it's funny that Darcy is supposed to be the main character but the show really revolves around Barb. |

Location: Phoenix | Oh and really wish they would stop calling it "competition"...just call it "make a run" or "rodeo". That was the biggest tip of it being scripted for me.
AND I love the intro song. It's "Put the gun down" by ZZ Ward in case anyone is wondering!! She's got some great songs.

If their faces weren't blurred out, they signed a release and def know they are on the show. |
