Anniemae - 2014-04-29 12:10 PM    Agreed.  But what he did was not illegal, it is just repugnant.

What is just punishment?

I haven't heard anybody suggest that he receive any type of legal punishment.

I couldn't decide just punishment from the NBA's standpoint unless I was an owner.  I don't know how much he has damaged their business.  Probably too early to tell.

What would you suggest the punishment be?

The NBA is going to make a public statement today I believe.  It really boils down to the owner's group andwhat they decide to do, if anything of any importance.

Again, I feel for the players. They should be enjoying their run in the playoff's, instead are dealing with this crap.

I think the commish will give him the maximum suspension and fine within his power.  He'll reference a clause in the constitution like "best interest of the game" or "conduct detrimental to the league" as justification.

If that satisfies the angry throngs, it will be over.  If it doesn't they'll go after removing his franchise.

Anniemae - 2014-04-28 12:54 PM What is just punishment for being a racist and making stupid remarks if you own a business?  Though I absolutely disagree with his comments, and think he is a racist pig, the fact that some are requesting that he sell the team, is ridiculous. It is taking it a bit too far.

It's HIS business and his personal views (as repugnant as they are) should in no way play apart of how the business is run, as long as he follows the legal guidelines set forth in the state of California.  His "employees" can leave if there contracts allow, if they are contractually bound, then they need to negotiate their departure if the feel that strongly.  Somehow, I don't think all the players will leave a lucrative paycheck behind (where would they all go?), regardless of how disgusting the "boss" is.

Sponsors are dropping like flies at the moment and he (and the team) will be feeling the financial impact of those departures; 10's of millions in lost revenue.  This will be a big hit to the wallet and may impact more than just Sterling, as it may also affect the players in a negative way.  They did nothing but play ball, yet may feel the brunt of the punishment in the end.

The team members (ALL members) are wearing their jerseys inside out. That is a appropriate way to protest without getting all wrapped up in the media garbage.  They are the only ones at the moment that are acting like adults. I'm sure many would like to give him a piece of their mind.

Bottom line, what is just punishment for Sterling?

So what about punishment for his affair.....................apparently that was okay.............

I read an article just a few minutes ago saying the NBA will be suspending him indefinitely. Not sure what this means for the franchise etc. I can't believe they are actually going to go through with punishing him. I agree with Mark Cuban's comments- It's a slippery slope punishing him for that. What's next? People who are against gay marriage, certain religions etc? (Normally I don't agree with Cuban but here I do) I don't think they have any right to punish him at all. Yes, he's a complete jerk but he has a right to his opinions, especially those stated in private. Makes me sad, the Clippers are one of my favorite teams to watch. This is all very bad timing for them...

He still owns the franchise for now.  The suspesion will prohibit him from active participation in the activities of the team.  It probably removes him from the board of goverors also.

I agree with Cuban also.  Very dangerous precedent to set.

Holy smokes!  Lifetime ban and a STRONG request to sell the team, period.   The fine is peanuts.

There goes that slippery slope...
