St. Louis County is putting measures into effect limiting groups of more than 250 from gathering. STL City the limit is 1000.

This is craziness.

Sadly we made the decision to skip out on this weekend baseball tournaments. We spoke with Jacob's oncologist and talked about everything and made that decision. We have no idea how he would react to getting even the flu .. a lot of teams are actually pulling out as I type this, I imagine the entire thing may be canceled. While the boys are bummed out, they understand. It's just not worth the risk to us at this point.

Our Spring Break got extended too, I'm just really happy that they are looking out for the kids, my Granddaughter has a liver disease that affects her spleen and we just cant chance her getting the flu or being exposed to the coronavirus, I feel being safe is the best way to go then being sorry later down the road.

I felt kind of stupid at first, like I was buying into all the chaos and fear ... then I got to thinking I'd feel this exact same way if say a strep throat outbreak was spreading or regular flu or stomach bug being spread ... I'd keep him home and wouldn't think twice about it. It's just the way it is with him. The baseball team and coaches are all very supportive and understanding. This whole thing makes me sad, stores running out of basic things, people waiting in long lines for fuel, everything being canceled, the jokes, the fear being spread by the media .. it's making me seriously depressed. Being told over n over the flu is worse ... I know it is and I think people know that but since everyone else is in a panic and buying everything they can, they do too. You almost have to so you arent left with nothing when it's all gone. Someone text me and said they are setting up tents outside a hospital because they are expecting thousands to become ill. What good is that?? Pure panic ... another posted on her Facebook that the Government is going to shut down everything for 8 weeks so people need to go get food, (a friends sisters cousins boyfriend that works at the Pentagon and sent out a heads up).. water and necessities to last that long... why put that out?? To make people freak out ... it's just stupid ....

Sadly, I am one of the high-risk folks -- over 60 and a rather bad case of chronic asthma.  Otherwise, I am extremely healthy.  I have not gone into hiding -- there are no cases in our area of the state or county so everyone here is pretty much going about a normal life. Schools are still open. We even have toilet paper in our stores!   However, if the illness does erupt in my town/city, I have been told to stay home and away from folks as a precautionary measure.  I will do that.  Until then, life goes on!  I do the same to avoid strep when it is rampant in our county. I get a flu shot every year and have for over 30 years. I've not had the flu since I began getting a shot every year, so I've never stayed home because of the flu. I carry wipes in all my vehicles and clean my hands after gassing up -- and have done that for over 25 years -- ever since I DID get strep out of the blue and my doctor believed I got it from a gas pump or Walmart shopping cart!  I clean all cart handles and have done so for years -- and I'm a devoted soap/water hand-washer. I've not even had a cold in about ten years! HOWEVER, I cannot tell you how many times I've eaten sandwiches at horse events and not bothered to wash my hands....  I believe eating all that dust, mud, mature, hair, etc., for years has boosted my immune system!  LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think you are doing right for jacob;))))We have cases VERY CLOSE TO US.Im taking it seriously, and im glad most people here are.I have NO PROBLEM with them extending the schools spring break 3 weeks,no huge gatherings either.Toilet paper is hit and miss, drug mart limits it to one pack. The safer the better i say,GET RID OF IT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND KEEP THE HIGH RISK AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE.I have no problem with the way its being handled because some people just think they are indispensable.

And the scary thing IS alot are not taking this seriously, like I said befor you dont have to go nuts just use common sense, and I can bet that there's going to be more rodeos and barrel races sooner then later once all this is under control

I just feel so bad keeping him from playing. I totally thought they would have canceled this tournament by now. They are going forward with it. Even though several teams dropped. The first 2 teams we were set to play dropped out. So they had to redo the schedule. His team is going. I literally just broke down in my barn tonight after riding and I dont even know why! Lol! I hate seeing my kids disappointed. But I know deep inside this was the right thing to do. This whole thing is making me nuts!! Our grocery stores shelves are almost empty and people are in full panic mode now, even our tiny dollar general is picked clean. My husband and I plan to go try to get a few groceries early in the morning.. I hope it's not a nightmare. I just need a few things. It may not even be worth it

You are so right! He seems to have moved on, his little brother was sad he couldn't go play too, his 8u team is still going but I've gotten several messages from coaches and parents from both teams saying they would do the same and not to worry about a thing. Family first. Jacob's coaches called us first asking us if Jacob should sit this one out, we were planning on going until I talked to his oncology drs. They didnt tell me he couldn't go but we needed to make our decision off of him being high risk. That was it. I know it will be different after this weekend is over.. they wont have another tournament scheduled for 2 weeks so fingers crossed this will be somewhat calmed down by then

YOU are the example of a GREAT "Mom" ....... your child is your first and foremost priority! It was a difficult decision but you always do what is best for your family.....and (I just read) that the others have come to their senses and cancelled the tournament .... as they always say .... This, too, shall pass!

I have read a couple articles that say Italian doctors are finding that patients who have covid and took ibuprofen fared much worse than the ones who didn't use ibuprofen. These patients were ones that were also on ace- inhibitors. Just thought that might be something to think about.

6am this morning the head of our organization made the decision to pull the 8u team out of the tournament in another town. I'm so glad he did. But the backlash he received from angry parents was sad. Saying it wasnt his call.. it most certainly was. These same people were lifting me up and saying I did the right thing when I pulled my son. I got in on that group chat and defended our head coach and told these people to calm down, there will be dozens of other tournaments coming our way.

My cousin lives in France and she told us that EVERYTHING is shut down . Only thing opened is a few grocery stores and hospitals. They are telling citizens to stay home.
