I was wondering what happend with Lisa and Louie, they are one of my favorites, and I had her picked to win the average in the NFR game. Your explanation makes perfect sense!

Unbelievable year Sherry is having! The commentator mentioned last night that no one has placed in all 10 rounds since Kristie and Bozo in the 90's. Would love to see Sherry join them!

I'm curious about Jean and Zan, I haven't been following them up to the NFR. Clearly these tight patterns just are not their thing, lots of down barrels and just not clocking. What kind of patterns did he excel on through the year? Does anyone know?

So very tickled for Shada pulling a 3rd place check!   I did notice the Flair Strip but didn't notice the tie down.  Everything moves to fast! LOL
Sad about Lisa tipping.  Heck a lot of girls tipped, makes me sad.  I still want to see Jean run Annie.

I didn't realize Jean had a backup with her, wonder why she hasn't pulled her out and given her a try yet?

She's got a mare of Jill Moody's with her.  She's a daughter of FF and real nice.

hammer_time - 2013-12-12 3:15 AM  Anyone else notice Sydni not really hustling?

Maybe it's not what the horse needs but it sure stood out to me.
I'd read an article (and someone posted it on one of these threads) that she had broken her tailbone this year and had really bad nerve damage that was incredibly painful. I wonder if that's still bothering her. I'd love to see her get in the money before the week's over.

I was so rooting for Sherry to get in last night - she's made money in every round! Can someone clarify- I saw this on FB maybe, does she get a Ram truck if she does it in all 10 rounds?

And of course- props to Taylor & Bo!
Well in that case, I don't blame her. Sabrina is another quiet rider....and it kind of bothers me! I want all these girls to do well but I see a lack of hustle in some of them. But I don't know if I could rodeo 10 days in a row....but for that money, I would be whipping and spurring the whole way. Is anyone else noticing how important it is to get that nose? Makes me really think back to a YouTube video I saw with Danyelle Campbell and her talking about pulling to the hip to get the nose instead of lifting up which stiffens the rib cage. Easier said than done, but you really see it Up close and personal in these runs.
Quiet doesn't mean not hustling. You can ask the horse to run without doing a bunch of obvious kicking and whipping. A lot of horses will run harder from hustling with your seat and smaller leg movements from the knee down in their rhythm. It doesn't look like a hustle but it is.
Amen.

So true.  Kimmi Byler would run Amanda Rutleges horse Forture sometimes and Kimmi told me that she always thought Amanda needed to hustle more - till the first time Kimmi rode him.  She said the more you do the slower he gets.  Amanda would ride quiet and almost take the whole 1D at 500+ shows.

Here is another interesting fact that someone shared with me.........and now she only has 6 barrels 2 rounds to go!

Sherry & Stingray are on track to break the NFR average record held by Jill & Dolly set back in 2010? Jill averaged 13.82 on each run... Sherry is averaging 13.77. If her and Stingray leave 9 more barrels up and get around them in less than 13.95 each night.

I hate that for Lisa that she tipped.... they are my favorite team, even though I love watching each girl run. It was a tough round to watch.

I don't know how many rodeos Jean actually placed at all year but the only runs I saw her make were at the Calgary Stampede.  She had bad runs in the long go and made it back to the short go in the wild card with a good run and then smoked a run in the short go. That one run bought her a ride to the NFR.  Calgary is not an easy rodeo, so kuddo's to her!! But I would say Zan maybe likes the bigger outdoor pens. That is just a guess though!

Oh how I miss Jill and Dolly, my favorites to watch!!  I sure hope Sherry can leave them standing the next two rounds.  Wow, what pressure that has to be!  I am sure it's on her mind!!  The average, the World Title....average record...wow!!  Fingers will be crossed for her each night!!

Great input. I enjoyed reading it very much. These girls are doing a fantastic job. I think, as you do, that Sherry is just a super technician. She is definitely up for the challenge. I love Mary & Latte, just a dynamic pair. Taylor, the rookie, I am so enjoying her and her super horse Bo. Bo and Taylor a cool in the alley & when it's time to work, man she runs a nice correct pattern. All of the ladies definitely earned their spots there and I pull for them all each night. But Fallon.....she is fun, fun, fun. You can miss her rolling out of the alley way and she has no fear. I am enjoying the different styles of each rider/horse team and not knowing who will come out on top. One of the best NFR barrel races for me in a very long time.

P.S. I appreciate your thoughtful critique.

I'm not into social media so has anyone seen any updates on Baby Flo?  Hoping she's not hurt from last nights slip..  Slick had a slip on that same barrel.  Seems like I remember someone else slipping there too but can't remember who.  There goes my awesome story telling skills again.

She hasn't posted anything yet. Lots of people are asking though, and she's pretty good about replying to that sort of thing.

I hope she's ok and running again tonight.  That barrel seemed to be a little iffy for more than Fallon.

Agree.  Whipping and spurring doesn't work on all horses.  I've got some that would freak out if I did all that.  Use your body and drive them forward doesn't require riding wild.  JMO

I have to say that I do not like all that whipping. I'd like to see what some horses would do if you took away the whip. I might do a little neck slap but I really don't whip my horses unless I feel they are cutting me off at the s/f line, but I really don't like the ones that over do it on the way out. I rode another horse that would sulk up n not run at all if you spanked her.

Great thread...thanks WrapSnap!
