This whole #metoo movement and Kavanaugh case has really gotten me to thinking about my own experience. The thing that irritates me most is I am not a sexual assault VICTIM I am a sexual assault SURVIVOR for 34 years and God knows I have my issues bc of it but I have lived a good life, not Dr. Ford good but good. I have 2 BEAUTIFUL successful children an amazing husband, horses a little money in the bank etc. I WAS a victim but I SURVIVED and that's what bothers me most about the language surrounding this case or any others for that matter. I so badly want to publicly tell my story to counter balance the farce #metoo but it would cause collateral damage to innocent people who weren't even born at the time. The person involved is in prison. For me it's over.
Let me just say, it wasnt the men in my life that treated me poorly when my assault became public, it was the women.
I got into a facebook argument with a friend the other day, she's super TeamFord with an extreme passion and super passionate about the #metoo thing and women's rights in general. We butt heads a lot, but what she posted the other day I couldn't ignore. She said unless you've been a victim of sexual assault you're not allowed to have an opinion on someone else's assault. Then expanded to any life situation, including if you don't actively do something on a daily basis to keep you from getting attacked you can't judge those who do or have in the past, nor can you judge someone's motive for attacking someone. And then started with the all women have the right to be believed stuff. My response wasn't so nice to her about it, most of my response was simply stating that was bogus and how she has no right to tell other what they can/can't have an opinion on or talk about. One of her friends asked me if I was at this part with Ford and I said no, so she said exactly, so shut up. I fired back the same question at her lol. But this whole thing has gone so far beyond this incident, it's blown up social media & gotten everyone just crazy. I've had some instances where I wouldn't say I was attacked, but was made very uncomfortable and it hasn't affected me with other people nor have I really spent time thinking about it or letting it bother me. I would never ever dream about dredging it up with those people now. Everything has gotten so out of hand, I've been avoiding facebook
I've steered clear of Facebook discussions about it bc these people are flat out hysterical. I refuse to be drug down a rabbit hole and this #metoo is a farce. It continues to label women victims long after they survived never letting them truly heal. |

Oh Facebook is a mess right now. I had someone "attack" me for sharing Lindsey Graham's speech after I watched the entire eight hour or so hearing. I use the "attack" word very loosely because all she could do was call me names like gross and then when I started asking her about the facts she disappeared. I am all for people having their own opinions and actually enjoy a good, educated debate but don't waste my time calling me names when you can't even back up your own opinions with facts.  |

Yep, social media is crazy right now. One of my husbands coaches from HS (and hubby was one of those "ride or die" players that worked his tail off ) just unfriended him because he called Beto O'Rourke a Liberal POS. Gotta love it when people can't engage in an educated debate or just agree to disagree, have to unfriend you when they have nothing rational to say. |

I did delete and block a Democrat friend bc he was flat wearing me out during election and ironically he is a mysogonist who was constantly posting inappropriate comments on my stuff. Having said that I've unfollowed a few Republican friends bc of their incessant rantings daily. I've basically become a troll lol

The headline blockbuster scoop is that he was questioned by police for throwing ice at someone. That’s where we are in 2018. The country is in the midst of civil war and this is the headline story. |

Location: East Texas | My husband told me over 15 years ago that he believed that sometime in the near future the United States would be in a war... not with an outside country, but from within. I basically told him, whatever, but now I see that coming true! We are literally neighbor against neighbor/family member against family member/friend against friend. The saddest part is that it has been fueled by people in high places (thanks, Obama). What I worry about is that while we are over here fighting amongst ourselves, some of our outside enemies are looking over here licking their chops and biding their time for us to be so engrossed with looking inward, that it will be easy to "take" us!
Sounds like a Hollywood movie... except we are living it! God please help us! |
