TrailGirl - 2014-04-29 2:56 PM From CNN:

Tuesday, the Rev. Al Sharpton, president of the National Action Network, called on Silver to meet this week with him and other civil rights leaders, according to a statement from the organization. Sharpton is planning to meet with the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington to discuss the situation, it said

Well that didn't take long did it?  WTH does the morally tainted Al Sharpton have to do with this?  Clearly he sees a chance to continue to be a fame whore and get his time in the news.  That just disgusts me.  MYOB Al...Seriously

MsDuchessGoTe - ] I thought I read there was a way to "remove" him as owner of the team with enough support from certain big wigs. Is this even possible? To "force" someone to sell something that is rightfully theirs? It all seems a little whackadoodle to me, even if he is a racist pig.

Yes, when they talk about "owning" the team, it is actually "owning" the franchise. It takes 75% of the current franchise "owners" to force him to sell, which I don't think they will have any problem getting the support.....those 75% certainly don't want THEIR players to walk out in protest and refuse to play.

Ah I see, thank you for clearing that up.

Crowned Image - 2014-04-29 2:26 PM didn't read much of the comments here. But I don't understand how you can fine someone 2.5 million, and ban him from the NBA and all of it's business and are trying to force the sale of his team for having an opinion? I disagree 100000% with his comments and opinion. But I don't understand how saying that could give him this result. He didn't do anything illegal and it was said with the intention of the comments not leaving his own home. But I don't understand if he has that opinion and is that comfortable talking about it, why was he dating that girl? I loved D.Trumps comments, "Wow, the girlfriend from hell!" bahaha.
I personally think, if this is the precedent the NBA wants to set... they had better start taking a hard look at their players!
I think most of you are missing the point.....the NBA is taking this stand because the majority of players are black and what happens if (and some have already voiced opinions) all of the black players refuse to play.....no players....no games.....no money for the other owners.....
Then when those black players make racist comments about white people (and they do).. then they need to be fined 2.5 million and be banned for life.   I am not saying he didn't derserve some reprimand, but this is a little extreme and violates his personal rights in my opinion.  I don't agree with his remarks, but I don't agree with the severity of the punishment for remarks made in private.. not public.  Let all those black players boycot, there are lots of others that would gladly fill their shoes!

Exactly

I could put a former "great" on the hot seat if I had taped him bashing white people when I was around him in a small setting.

But, it never occured to me to tape it so I had something to use against him at a later date.

I think it may be harder to get the support than you think.  There are some pretty savy businessmen that understand the ramifications of that for every owner.

My bet is they are less worried about a player walkout than they are lost revenue.
