Location: 31 lengths farms | The days are still short here, run out of daylight by the time I get off work so just riding on weekends but have been long trotting and loping her and Saturday she went for a good solid 30 minutes between the two gaits with a couple short sessions of collected trotting just to remind her she can and needs to, LOL!!! She seems to be doing well, coat looks amazing, feet look good, no issues as of late with losing shoes, urinating regularly. Her first post surgery ultrasound will be sometime in April. Almost bought a cap for us at the Bull & Gelding sale to remind myself. It said Be Brave, Be Fierce. She is Fierce and I need to remind myself to be Brave running to the first this year on this little mare. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I may have to wait and share the 2nd or 3rd run, LOL!!!You know, a practice run for me to find my big girl panties.... I swear, I think if I "lope" to the first this year Dave will come down and pull me off her and hand the reins to someone who isn't . But thank you, can't wait to share even the "bad" runs as long as she feels good and comes back healthy crappy runs can always be fixed. I'm hoping me being a Fraidy Cat to the first is fixable too....

Location: 31 lengths farms | Its been beautiful here the last week, had a week or so of rain before that so hadn't gotten to ride again for a week or more. Saturday it was finally dry enough to ride safely in the pasture, CC was awesome, a little fire plug when I first got on but settled in nicely after a few laps. Have started asking her for shape and collection again instead of just being happy to ride her and having her feel good. Turned her out in the pasture next door while I got the other two ridden also, she ran and played and bucked and then proceeded to eat everything in sight afterwards. Her appetite has always been directly related to how much ride time she is getting, wish I had that same issue, LOL!!!
Sunday she started out nice and relaxed and then she did her thing that she has not done in over a year,, when I picked up the lope on her she did her blow blow blow thing that she used to do when she loped nice relaxed circles...reminds me of the sounds that reining horses make loping their slow circles. I tied her up afterwards while I rode my big mare, again to try and keep an eye on if she needed to urinate afterwards, she never did while tied but after I let her loose she went and rolled and several minutes later did urinate, not the biggest stream but nice and yellow and still no blood.
I do need to be better about getting the BioScan machine on her however!!! Still doing the herb regimen and ACV, talked to the vet that performed the surgery and we will be scheduling a follow up ultrasound sometime in April with him. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Ack!!! If this keeps up I may need to really buy the magic seat...it has been pretty nice here, CC continues to do well, almost fit enough to start going and entering. I'm a little neurotic about my horses being in top shape before I make a run on them anyway and with CC's issues its double important for me at this point. However she is looking great, feeling good, she has hit the afterburners a couple times here lately and I'm hoping I can channel her extra energy as well as remain seated during the entire performance!!! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Well they'll be shared, good, bad, whatever, lol!!! I wonder how many of us truly realize how lucky we are when we every time we throw a leg over one of them and simply worry about a good run. I realized I can pretty much fix anything that happens in a run, fixing their health takes try, good luck, good vets and lots of prayer. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Been getting about 3-4 rides a week in on her, sometimes more, thank goodness for DLS, LOL!! Seriously thinking of heading to a race the first weekend in April. Not sure if she'll really even remember to find a barrel but you gotta start somewheres right???? LOL!!! Have been doing bioscan on her a few times a week (a friend of mine loaned me her machine!!!) and still doing her herbs like clockwork. She seems to be doing well, health looks good from the outside and her next ultrasound will be in May. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Lets just say at this point I still haven't gotten over the absolute joy of simply being able to toss a saddle on her and heading out to ride and lope and let her do her thing. I still feel like I need to pinch myself :-) Hopefully that feeling continues after the May ultra sound too!!! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Hauled over to an arena I usually use to get ready for Pendleton with the horses yesterday, CC's first haul to ride rather than for vet appointments in about a year. After warming her up I cruised thru a pattern, little by the first, but all and all for the first time on the pattern in almost 2 years at anything faster than a slow lope or trot I'll take it!!! Walked her out for a little while and then cruised thru again, nailed the first . Walked her out, rode my gelding and then walked them around and let them eat some grass. CC urinated, no blood!!! First time I've let her open up a little since the surgery.
I think we are ready to enter up!!! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | CC seemed a little off this morning, listened to her gut, good gut noises but just seemed not herself. Good refill in her gums and her skin didn't tent when I did the pinch test. Gave her some Immediate Response and then went home and checked on her at noon, she was tearing around the field and pestering the gelding in the next pasture. We had a sudden hot spell last week, went from 72 to 90+ over night. Need to get some electrolytes and start feeding them too I think. Any suggestions? |
