Location: 31 lengths farms | So I think tonight is the night for our first run back...I'm sick to my stomach but after Della's post I know that a bad run as far as downed barrels and or riding poorly is the least of my worries. The big thing is having them come out of the pen sound and healthy, we've been working on this for over a year to get her to this spot. I bought a Wonder Woman T-shirt to run in tonight, not for myself but for CC. This little mare makes me smile and I know the tears in my eyes tonight wont' be just from the wind whipping by...We still have a long way to go but looking at my original post from almost a year ago proves to me what a fighter this little mare is. She is my Hero. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Thank you both...I may need a calming cookie, LOL!!! Leave here in a few minutes to go hitch up. I'm excited and scared to death all at the same time. She is in the best health we can keep her in, she looks amazing or I wouldn't be running her. I just can't believe that I'm finally getting to do this again on this mare. She made my dreams come true 3 years ago on Pendleton grass and God has kept her in His hand for me the last year in particular.
This may not be pretty, I may fall off and I'm not even really kidding but at least we get to sign up :-) |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Well our run didn't go as planned, lol!!! But she ran hard, and came home in great shape. Urinated about 15 minutes after the run, no blood.
I forgot my mind, actually ran to the first and then never rated, just dropped the outside rein and pulled. Got by it by about 2 strides, pulled more, ended up almost on the wrong side of the first ... After readjusting ourselves finished the run, little hiccup on the 2nd, again, failure on my part. But ran a 20.2 with a 17.9 winning it. Like I said, as long as she came back healthy I can fix the rest:-) |

Nothing like losing your mind... Somewhere in the last year I've apparently forgotten how to ride, but CC tried inspite of me:-) |

Location: Arkansas | The faith you have in your mare and the heart and try she has brings tears to my eyes. Some folks would have thought "eh, too many issues and too much time and money involved" and would have sent her down the road. But she knew you loved her and believed in her and THAT is part of the cure right there. Many many thanks for being one of the people that won't give up on our four-footed babies even when the going gets tough. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Ahh, thank you Chandlers Mom<3
For a while she was very frustrating because she has the tools but things weren't coming together AT ALL. Then in 2011 I made a huge mistake, she took off running and ran into the blade of a tractor and fractured her patella. I just was hoping to get her sound enough to be a pasture ornament. I owed it to her for the bad decision I made. She never quit me , we hand walked many miles together, when it was 110, when it was raining. She got to where I couldn't keep up with her and I started ponying her, them the other horses couldn't keep up anymore. In that year I figured out how her brain worked and it made me appreciate how she had tried for me, I just didn't realize how differently this mare processes things. We became a team, I started to see things and process things thru her eyes and it made me a better team mate for her. I truly believe she was put in my life to change it... She already has in so many ways. |

She was definitely put in the right person's life---I'm so very happy you two have each other. What a great team too! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Just a side note...3 years ago you couldn't have paid me enough to share THAT video. I would have deleted it so quickly it would have made your head spin, however when your horse gets a death sentence and somehow miraculously makes it to a point the vets give you the go ahead to run them again, the mere act of being able to enter a race takes on a whole new meaning. Was it a crap run? Absolutely. But, she ran and she came back looking good, urinated and passed no blood. CC answered a lot of unanswered questions Friday night, showed people that sometimes it's only over when we quit. Friday's run was my little Wonder Woman's stepping stone and as ugly as it was I couldn't be prouder of the fighter she is. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | You guys have no idea how much it means to me to still have people following her story...
Last week I had hitched up the trailer only to find out that the blinkers on the right didn't work so going to the race then was out. However I did sneak around the corner to an arena to ride but was pouting about it a little, trying to talk myself into "the lights didnt' work because it was God's way of telling me I had more work to do first" (which was really true but I wanted it to be because life isn't fair...you know a good old pity party. I got home and Dave asked how things went, I said "Great, if riding around freaking arena with no one else is gonna get me anywhere..you didn't help me pay for the surgery to lope circles in an abandoned arena". Dave laughed and said "No, I paid for the surgery to save her life and I could care less where she lopes circles"
Yah, Major Pity Party OVER!!! |
