| I would've put that little hussy in her place! What is wrong with people like that? Why do people get off on hurting/embarrassing others? I don't get it. |

Heck yes, I would have embarrassed her double what she did him. I cannot stand disrespectful people. Please let us know how the talk with the manager goes. Hopefully she'll be walking around with a slip of paper asking if people are hiring! |

I believe why because 1. No manners and lack of training, which begins in the home. 2. Plain doesn't give a crap because they have gotten away with it before and it is a power "high".
If the OP was not able to say anything calmly at the time - it is better she waited to say something. When it is appropriate, I would calmly tell the little chit how rude she was and how unacceptable her behavior is to others. And, I would definitely tell her superiors. |

Location: Oklahoma | I work in the staffing world. As a staffing professional I encounter many people with stories. We can't help them all, but we try our best. If I didn't have a young child at home my husband and I had even discussed taking in one of my associates who had been going through a divorce.
We try to pay it forward. I agree to talk to her manager. Maybe that gentleman could try a staffing agency??????? I work for a very large successful one and would love to help anyone find a job! |

Location: Never in one place long | I would have said DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN? and would have said oh yeah that's right and set my stuff on the counter right in front of her and WALKED OUT making a scene to show my disapproval!!! Actions speak louder than words! Then I would have went and tracked the guy down and told him sorry!
I know it's hard to act right in the moment though. Poor guy!! |

I'm generally a quiet person, until you ridicule or tear someone down in front of me....then I set you in your place. That girl would have been in tears if I were standing in line, and I would of made sure that she knew how it felt to be unemployed.
How sad for the gentleman. I hope that because one "child" tears him down that he doesn't give up hope. |

| Well i dont agree with her rude behavior... but i see people abusing the system all the time and it does make me angry. But it doesn't sound like this gentleman was one of them and atleast he was for a job that he more than likely was qualified for. Where i work we have the system abusers come in and apply all the time because they dont qualify for any of the work we offer and they dont want a job they just want their dang paper signed so they can get paid for doing nothing!!!
sorry i had to get that out.... BUT it does honestly sound like this guy was one of the good people that NEEDS the money |

| This IS disturbing!! Maddening..... then you also see the other side of the coin where the 400 pound lady walks into the petite store doing the same thing...asking for work. She knows how to use the system....but rudeness in employees will bite them in the asster some day! |

Agreed. Her actions remind me of the only phrase I remember from 3 years of Latin in High School... (which was 22 years ago, so I may not be remembering it exactly correct lol)
Quid rides? Mutato nomine, da te fabula narratur.
Why do you laugh? Change the name, and the tale is told of you. |

Location: Elkview, WV | I had to take a 31 day break from my full time orders in October. I had to take myself to the unemployment off and set through the class. There were 3 other people there. 2 older, professionally dressed ladies who had been let go after years with their companies. They were probably just as embarrassed as I was to be there. And as far as collecting benefits, it's not worth it. You can't survive on that money. I claimed 2 weeks with one day of work and it paid less than $400. I'd much rather work!
If that poor gentleman was getting "proof" of job contacts, it was for himself in case he was ever audited. The unemployment office just asks how many contacts you made |

I worked with a woman like this for years. I tried to turn her around, but she would go home to her sad lonely bitter life that she made for herself. Luckily she had no husband or children to pass it on. |

Not entirely true.........each state is different and some states DO require you to turn in proof that you have looked for a job and none was available at that location. |

When people come into our place of business, I actually have to sign their sheet to show they had been here asking about work. I don't mind and I do try and always smile. You never know what people have been put through. Common courtesy, however, is never out of style. |

| Yes it makes me angry too with people abusing the system but you're right, this person didn't seem like he necessarily was. And I still don't think you should act like that!! Unless they were flaunting about abusing the system, then that would make me a little angry...but she's got no professionalism whatsoever. |
