You know that California tried to say the same thing right?  All of the smog really wasn't from the millions of cars on the road...nope that smog in the Central Valley was because of all of the dairy cows living there.  No joke.  I clearly remember my professor in college handing out that news article to us one day and then all my friends that come from the farm getting really ****ed off.

I really can't handle stupidity and ignorance like that...

Gives new meaning to the Norwegian jokes we hear up here!

The mushrooms have sauteed onions and green peppers in them and I think I suggested blue cheese crumbles melted over the top but any good cheese works great!  :

Green house gasses from a cow!!??? Have they monitored teenaged boys!? And there's NO WAY I'd let him have a can of pork & beans in a confined area!

Bahahaha!!! SOOO true!! I have a teen son, it's dangerous to ride in the car with him from the "emissions" alone!

I just don't get their twisted logic.  So, instead of eating those 600 cows, they are standing around farting....and creating global warming.  Seems to me they should be eating MORE animals, not less, if they want to get rid of all that cow flatus.

But wouldn't the DEMAND for cows decrease and thereby decrease the amount of them because of supply and demand?
It might be silly BUT I think it's crazy how widely available and CHEAP meat is today, but there is a price to be paid by the environment and the animals themselves and IMO it's low quality meat ... I'd never eat any meat from a grocery store but do buy it from local farmers that raise it in a healthier more sustainable way for the cattle and for people. Since we pay about 3x what you would in a grocery store we don't eat as much and appreciate it more, it's mind boggling the amount of meat we consume in the U.S. because it is so cheap but you pay a low price and you get low quality.....in my opinion.

We buy our beef on the hoof from someone local that we know and trust, then take it to the butcher and have it processed. Considering all of the meat a person gets even from a side of beef, it comes out less per pound than to go buy the same cuts of meat from the grocery store by a LOT.

That being said, I don't think the Norwegians are being all that altruistic. If you read between the lines, some budget cruncher probably figured out that they would save a lot of money by foregoing meat for 1 day per week. They just had the political sense to spin it the way they did. The US Gov't however, wants to institute a "fart tax" if you will, on ranchers and farmers on a per head basis. How is that solving anything? Will it reduce the amount of gas the cows produce? No. It is just another means of collecting tax revenue. Period. And if there were a "global warming" problem, then it's GLOBAL, as in the entire globe, I'd start with China. The pollution is so thick there you can't see through it. They don't live in a bubble.

The bigger issue is this, if the government were allowed to legislate this "fart tax" then that is going to drive up the price of meat and evenutally send production of meat to other countries that have cheaper labor and fewer regulations. We then lose a lot of control over our food supply. Lose control over the food supply, we are powerless.

Just my 2 cents.

I can see where a "fart tax" could be satifying, if they levied it on people.  I'd start with congress, since that's where there is the highest concentration of hot air.  Bunch of old fart bags.

I agree, adding a "fart tax" is the stupidest thing I've heard of and will not have the desired effect I'm guessing... maybe they could start by NOT subsidizing corn and doing something to encourage people to pasture raise their cattle. It's just a mess, I don't know the solution but government interference is not the solution either... just like subsidizing doesn't help either JMO.

Well, there you go.  That article says Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas are the biggest offenders.  That settles it.  We now have solid scientific proof that all this hot weather is on account of your gassy ass cows down there.  Tons and tons of methane being released into the atmosphere, slowly cooking us alive.  It's going to cost money to get all that methane cleaned up.  We'll just have to tax all these greedy ranchers based on how much their cows fart.  Besides, it will serve a dual purpose......all those steaks and burgers are bad for your health anyway.  This will encourage Americans to eat more healthy....replace that nasty juicy tender beef with delicious "green" vegetables like kale, broccoli, alfalfa sprouts, and endive.  The taxes will both fund Obamacare and help with the costs of air cleanup efforts, so we can get rid of all this warm weather.

Are those stuffed mushrooms, Doc?

Um, that was my first thought... if you kill them all to eat them, won't there be less gas emitted?!?!

I will believe cows are the problem when someone slaps a fart bag on Bessie and measures the PSI of methane in her farts. For crying out loud, there is just no end to the things people will come up with. Here's an idea, if manure is really the bigger methane problem, why not collect it as a renewable resource. Let it just simmer away producing all of that terrible methane and recycle it into natural gas? We can have fart cars.

My neighbor has 1000+ pairs, therefore I am sure that it would have been zero at my house this morning instead of 29 if he would divest his herd.

Seriously, these sorts of people are just plain loony, whacked out, batsh!t crazy.  I think it's a virus in their brain that makes them this way.  No other way to explain the collective insanity.
